The Sexy, Colourful Art of DMC, Enslaved and Heavenly Sword

Kotaku: From the first time I saw Heavenly Sword concept art in an old copy of Edge, right through to their work today, I've been a big, big fan of the art team over at Ninja Theory. So it's a pleasure today to present the work of the studio's visual art director, Alessandro Taini.

good art, shitty games sad thing this artist work for NT

jc485734978d ago (Edited 4978d ago )

funny thing, the art doesn't translate well into the game, especially Heavenly Sword. Just look how hot Nariko looks in the art, but then the game just ruined it for me. She looks like an alien to me. If you think she looks hot in the game, then be my guest. I think Trip looks better.

Tanir4978d ago

yeah the art is amazing, I lvoe that pic of dante surrounded by angels, would be so much MUCH MUCH better if it was the real dante

Quagmire4977d ago

I would personally love to work for Ninja Theory. Screw the haters, they have no idea how much passion and creativity have when making their games.

Kyosuke_Sanada4978d ago (Edited 4978d ago )

This art is truly amazing, I must find this artist and put some research in she/he. Heavenly Sword was a great game in my opinion, Enslaved I haven't played yet and DmC......well.

Anyways, I just hope Ninja Theory gets their head together sooner or later it's a shame they are being used as Capcom's lapdog recently. I'd hate to see such talent like this squandered especially if the company closes down...

Quagmire4977d ago

My guess is that they took the offer from Capcom to do a DmC game because their own previous 2 games didnt fair well financially, and they must've taken a hit. In doing a game from an established franchise, they would have a better chance of gaining profits needed for making sequels to their own games, or using it for creating more unique titles.

As for the change of design of Dante, its unfortunate that NT are getting caught in the controversy. After all Capcom wanted to change Dante, not NT, so they went along with different concepts and Capcom decided on this look.

Of course now NT is getting the backlash from the braindead fans. I for one hope they game is good despite all the hatred, hope that reviewers rate this game based on its own merits and not fromits associations to other DMC games, and hopefully NT get the money they need to get back into what they do best.

If there's anyone to blame for this mess, its the gamers for not buying their games, and Capcom for once again screwing over their fans, not Ninja Theory.

Because the anime is on Netflix and we gotta ride that DMC in the news again wave.

CrimsonWing6927d ago

You sound like you’re just a ton of fun to be around.

franwex27d ago

It’s been sitting in my backlog for a while now. One of the first games I wanted to try for this current gen due to the long load times of previous gen. I’ll get around to it soon!

Zenzuu27d ago

One of the best, stylish, and fun action slasher on the system. You definitely should get to it, as soon as you can.

solideagle26d ago

they are taking way too much time with DMC6...

VersusDMC26d ago

The DMC5 team went on to make Dragons Dogma 2, the DMC director (3,4,5) left capcom to make an action game at another studio and the rumor is that a DMC remake is next...so i wouldn't hold my breath on DMC6.

ZeekQuattro26d ago

Everytime its on sale I think about buying it but never do. I only played the orginal and somr of 3 so I guess that's part of it.

DMC2 ranked 2nd and also DmC ranked 3rd?
What a load of BS!

ABizzel128d ago

IMO

6. DMC2 6/10
5. DMC4 7.5/10 (Hated Nero, repeat bosses, Dante was the saving grace but only about half the game)
4. DmC 7.5/10 (solid overall, some great ideas, meh story, dialog sucked, and the director almost killed DMC)
3. DMC1 8.5/10 (all around solid)
2. DMC5 9/10 (carried by Dante & Nero gameplay, I didn’t like V’s, Nero’s better but still not a fan)
1. DCM3 10/10 (chef’s kiss)

Vits28d ago

Well, it worked.

This nothingburger of a opinion article got a lot of views and comments.

Pyrofire9528d ago

WHAT!? who in their right mind would put 2 near the top (not at the bottom) unironically?
I think all of them are worth playing in their own right honestly, except 2 unless you REALLY want to experience the whole series.

FinalFantasyFanatic28d ago (Edited 28d ago )

I honestly don't know what the author was smoking, personally I'd rank DMC3 as no.1, maybe DMC5 as second, DMC1 as third, DMC4 as fourth, and DMC as fifth and DMC2 last. such a bizarre list, mybe the author just has strange taste.

DMC2 anywhere but last is crazy. Awful list overall.

BlaqMagiq128d ago

"Devil May Cry 2 isn’t trash. It’s just misunderstood by a fanbase that doesn’t like change."

This and putting DMC 2 number 2 is all I need to ignore this ranking. DMC2 is absolute trash and it's clear this person doesn't understand exactly why.

Flenter28d ago

For me: 3,1,5,4,2 and then .....Dmc

fsfsxii28d ago (Edited 28d ago )

Why is DmC last? Genuinely curious.

lellkay28d ago (Edited 28d ago )

Dmc is far superior to DMC2 come on

"almost 20-year-old series"

It's 24 years old.

Devil May Cry Games Sales Surge After Netflix Success

Sales of games in the Devil May Cry franchise have surged as a result of the new anime adaptation's success. DMC 4, DMC 5, and the DMC HD Collection have all reentered Steam's Global Top Sellers. Devil May Cry 5's player count jumped from around 2,000 concurrent players to just over 13,500 players in the span of a few days. Devil May Cry 4 and the Devil May Cry HD Collection have also seen similar sales boosts in the past week.

The success of the Devil May Cry anime adaptation—and to a lesser extent, the Onimusha TV series—serves as early proof the company's multimedia expansion strategy in action, showcasing how Capcom is leveraging its game IPs beyond consoles and into streaming platforms.

Lol, well... Better late than never, I suppose. It's a wonderful series. Devil May Cry V was truly something special (despite my small nitpick on the overuse of one particular level.) I still think it's probably the best action game ever made. Not sure if I'll check out the anime but I've been rocking with the games since the start of the series.

isarai33d ago

Deserved, DMC is peak hack and slash, and despite it's awareness, the sales numbers should be higher imo for what it does.

CrimsonWing6933d ago

I really was expecting to hate this show with Nero voicing Dante and all the changes they made, but cringe forced cussing aside, I really enjoyed the hell out of it.

Lexreborn233d ago

I am guilty as of yesterday lol I bought the HD collection on Playstation and the definitive edition of DmC for 20 bucks yesterday. Granted, I already own them on PC and Physically and just wanted a convenient spot because I was planning on doing a sit down at the TV playthrough with my son.

Then I realized I could just use my Asus rog(offline mode) and Steamdeck we play our own games at the same time. And I give him tips as we play through them. I will likely do DmC on the PS4 though because that doesn't play the best on steamdeck. Otherwise we would play in my office on my ps5 pro or gaming desktop. That is to cluttered though....

Anyways, I'm super excited to go home and play DMC1 with my son tonight!
