Best tactical JRPG since years. Excellent game better than a lot of those blockbusters that will never have the depth of a Disgaea game.

When i see some zines giving perfect scores to Bastion this year i just hope all these reviewers will test a true Tactic Action rpg with an hardcore gameplay and a better story to understand how Disgaea is far better than any games of the same genre on the market.

To be fair, the SRPG genre is a bit of a garbage bin. Plenty of RPGs decide to go the SRPG route so they can skimp out on content and just have a cheap visual-novel style RPG. Disgaea really the only SRPG franchise where the combat system is fully fleshed out, instead of something done just for the hell of it.

Nah, SRPG is great fun when done right. Final Fantasy Tactics was also a great SRPG. Valkyria Chronicles is another even if it's not the traditional SRPG.

There's nothing fair in what you are saying, you just prove you don't know the media or video game history.

Tactical RPG has always been a great addition to the genre, more core and puzzle oriented than any RPG, their conceptions are based on smart game design, very accurate gameplay and also they need a real architecture to have a balanced gameplay with their tons of possibilities, weapons, characters, capabilities.

Especially in Japan, those games have a depth that a lot of western RPG can't match, even on this generation, in terms of pure gameplay.
The mechanics are not the same but the effect is very satisfying when you succeed in a tactical RPG more than a lot of classics RPG.

You can find also a lot of random trash in classic RPG too, it's just the fact that when a game is good, no matter the genre, it's good, that's it, and Disgaea is one of those game, clearly a reference. This fourth game is just great.

Graphics doesn't always make a game better than an other. Disgaea proves it easily, by the way.

This game is just meant to played by people who are looking for a great game. More than 150h of gameplay, easily, smart & fun. Simply a cool addition to the serie.

great game, beat this game recently at level 400+, don't know if I'll go higher than that though
