Tradition Vs. Innovation: Have Your Say!
In gaming, franchises are king. Sequels, prequels, spin-offs, reboots; ever-developing technology coupled with sometimes only minor tweaks to game features can maintain franchises for decades. Traditions are born through this process of using past success as the foundation of the future. Relying on tradition, however, can be a double-edged sword. Without innovation IGN's most anticipated game of the year would be Pong 2011, not Skyrim, Arkham City, or Battlefield 3, among many, many others.
