IGN: Max Payne 3 is Man on Fire 2

IGN: Max Payne 3 is out for revenge. But Man on Fire did it first.

CinemaBlend takes a look at several plot points from the Denzel Washington revenge flick that Max Payne 3 seems to have Xeroxed incorporated. When you break it down, it looks like Rockstar's threequel is an unofficial sequel to/remake of Tony Scott's film.

Sigh. Max Payne looks like trailer trash now. Why must they give him a baldy, a beer gut, and a wife beater. May as well be redneck rampage 3.

LOGICWINS4635d ago

"Why must they give him a baldy, a beer gut, and a wife beater."

Adds realism.

JellyJelly4635d ago

I have to say I love the new character design. He looks gritty as hell. The change was for the better imo.

Look at the new DMC *waits for you guys to go look at it* Now look at this. * waits for you to look at it again* .......................Be grateful.

NYC_Gamer4635d ago

This could have been a new ip because it's not max payne

LOGICWINS4635d ago

It is Max Payne...just in a different setting/environment. I hear a lot of people saying that Max Payne has lost its way by leaving the gritty streets of NYC.

NEWSFLASH! Sao Paulo Brazil is one of the most dangerous places in the world...much more so than NYC. I suggest you watch City of God. Ull quickly understand how much higher the stakes are for Max this time around.

J86blum4635d ago (Edited 4635d ago )

Sure, if Max wants to get shot in the foot by a pre-teen :/ the location is trash, put him in NYC or hell Chicago, or Philly anywhere else. Let max do his bread and butter thing dont make him have to have a huge transformation (it never goes well.) Chris Redfield, Dante.

Just saying its bad when I feel the Marky Mark Max Payne movie maybe better then this game.

It feels almost like a Side story for Lynch (from Kane and Lynch)

"It is Max Payne...just in a different setting/environment."

It wasn't just about the bullet time, slow motion diving and shooting people that made Max Payne what it was. It was the gritty noir feel, graphic novel cut scenes / hard-boiled detective story as well. And from the trailer so far, not really seeing that at all.

LOGICWINS4635d ago (Edited 4635d ago )

@cupcake- Sounds like someone doesn't like to PLAY games before judging them.

jbiz3304635d ago (Edited 4635d ago )

City of God is located in RIO not Sao Paolo. two totally different cities (like New York vs Miami) but i get what youre saying.

Let me just say this...This game would have done fine had they left Max the way he was and left him in NYC like they should have.

This is the first next-gen Max Payne game...Gamers wouldn't have had a problem with a nicely tuned Max Payne game set in NYC with the same Max. We didn't need Kane & Lynch 3 on vacation (which is what Max looks like to me). Its like they took a big crap all over the series. It still may be enjoyable but really who wants to be a fat, out of shape ex-cop hunting down Brazilians? Its like a tuna fish and peanutbutter sandwich- just doesn't work. Too many mixed ideas here.

Vegas would have been more suitable. Rockstar this makes me question your thought process....I am worried about your future titles or sequels for that matter.

JellyJelly4635d ago (Edited 4635d ago )

"This game would have done fine had they left Max the way he was and left him in NYC like they should have."

You haven't played it yet. All we've seen of it are glimpses from in the trailer. We know nothing about the gameplay or the story yet people like you jump the gun and write it off just because it doesn't look exactly the same as the previous games.

Gamers these days are too damn conservative.

MasterD9194635d ago (Edited 4635d ago )

There is a lack of familiarity here for this game. It took away from the series by altering the location and look so drastically. Its not Max Payne but appears to be trying.

Its bulletime shooting mechanics in Brazil- do I really need to play it to figure that out?

maniacmayhem4635d ago

Sometimes a departure is needed...even though it rarely works.

I'm just going to wait and see. Its not as if the Max Payne style of gameplay is fresh or new, maybe this why the new setting was created.

Drekken4635d ago

So wait... Max is a glorified babysitter where the child gets kidnapped and he goes on a rampage to save her until he does and dies?

IGN is a shell of its former self... I saw a comment on this site the other day comparing the new MP to Man on Fire. Does IGN scour the internet comments in hope for something to write about?

I got 80% trophy completion on Ragnarok but left a few of the battles. Will come back to it one day.

Miraak82 333d ago

Dragon Quest 11 is my top pick

RpgSama332d ago

Dragon Quest XI was such an AMAZING game, I had a blast from the very beginning all the way to the very end, it actually got better the more you played, full of surprises as well.

Another game that I enjoyed from the very beginning all the way to the end of the 100% completion was Yakuza: Like a Dragon. Really, really, really fun game with a great heartfelt story.

badz149333d ago (Edited 333d ago )

Where is Horizon Zero Dawn?? where is Ghost of Tsushima?? I just got my Platinum on HZD and is now trying to finish the Frozen Wild expansion. so much care and love went into that game and it really shows. I especially adore the lore and have sunk many hours listening to the logs and reading journals. the back story is great and the gameplay is awesome. can't wait to replay on the hardest difficulty on NG+. next in my list would be to finish GoTsushima

Tacoboto333d ago

Ghost was fantastic especially after Iki Island and the PS5 upgrade. 100%'d that, Horizon Forbidden West (not ZD), GoW (not yet Ragnarok), Spider-Man, and R&C: Rift Apart.

Each one absolutely worth it.

Aloymetal333d ago (Edited 333d ago )

100% I would like to add to you list RDR2, amazing as well and the perks from getting the Legend Of The East outfit is awesome.
Sekiro as well, have to play twice to get it but it's worth it!

Demetrius333d ago

I agree I'm on my 2nd playthroughs of both horizon forbidden West(zero dawn I played also) ghost of Tsushima except I'm replaying it on PS5 this time, the iki island expansion is amazing

ClayRules2012333d ago

Yeah, GoT was already an AMAZING game on PS4, but playing it on PS5, along with that expansion, just even better.

Elda333d ago

I just started my copy of GOW:R, enjoying it so far.

DefenderOfDoom2332d ago (Edited 332d ago )

Okay the title of article should be top 10 , 3rd person games to complete 100 percent. Nine 3rd person games and 1 racing game on this list .
