Haha I love the bit about it being mutiplayer only. Since when has anybody done a single player BETA in recent years? These BETAs are to stress test servers and fix last minute bugs as well as get a bit of free advertising out there.

Yes Pixel they are. Its typically labeled demo if its SP. Demos can be marked as MP as well.

Because they are taking this long for beta, I just hope they get all the bugs out before launch. It will piss me off if they need to patch after the game launch to fix something that should have been fix during or after the beta.

The bugs wasn't the death of it for me, I just couldn't stand the way any melee character playing solo is helpless against anything but standard zombies. I had to spend about 70% of the game sprinting just to avoid dying every 2 seconds to a pack of infected with weapons. All in all personally I am hugely let down by a vast array of poor design choices for the game from the poor reach right down to every last part of the player movement physics. Just a big let down for me, I hope techland step it up for their next AAA outing.

On Topic - Is this a Beta across all platforms?

I think the "regular" Beta starts next week or so. Beta for Alpha Testers and MOH buyers starts within a week (prolly the 27th for MOH and the 29th for Alphas). Then, Beta testers get in around October 3rd or 4th.

those who pre-ordered on origin are supposed to get early access as well, although i do not know if it will follow the same timeline as the alpha/MOH people. but i'm fine with waiting two days. I would have pre ordered it by now but i need to buy a new video card first. i doubt my 8600gt will be able to cope. it barely runs BC2.

Ye me too but... they already said you don't need the disc, the earlier statement was innacurate and corrected it. You will use a code which gives you access. In fact some people have already received the e-mail.

Single player wouldn't need testing at the same level as online.They basically are running a sever stress test with a demo.

yep public beta is also good for balancing and finding any possible remaining bugs. Things that aren't necessarily needed in SP. You may think you found every little bug, that is until your game is being played on 100s of different pc builds only to find your server browser crashes on start (*cough Red orchestra /cough*)

Doesn't the game release in like a month? I suspect the coding by now has got to be completed, which pretty much means they are just trying to show off their game, not really get input on possibly making the game better.

Don't get me wrong, I'm looking forward to it, but I just think it's gotten popular to put a beta out as a form of advertising as opposed to actually fixing issues or addressing potential problems.

They are most likely using it to calculate server load. Hopefully the launch servers will hold up better this time than when BFBC2 launched.

Every hear of post release patches? I'm pretty sure you have obviously and thus getting a head start on them is always a great thing(: I'm definitely sure its for advertising too, but who cares? Nice to have the ability to try out the multiplayer early. Stop complaining.

As far as I know.. The technical feedback and "hard" bugs were tested in the Alpha (which some of us were invited to) - the beta is to test server load and balancing issue.. possibly abuses and minor glitches. There is no way to simulate most of such tests, other than making the public try it out..

Same thing went for BFBC2 as far as I recall :) but you're right - it's a late hour to iron out kinks but I don't think that's the objective (if you have seen any alpha footage you'll notice that everything is running pretty smoothly)
