Dead or Alive is considered by many as one of the best fighting games on the market, and Team Ninja is trying to prove that once more with the fifth iteration, but will they be able to "push the envelope" as Director Yosuke Hayashi has said they intend to?
Rise of the Rōnin producer Yosuke Hayashi and director Fumihiko Yasuda are watching Shogun and recommend you watch Yojimbo.
Trevor Walker said: Fighting games have always been able to simultaneously experiment and innovate while staying true to their roots in the best of ways. Mechanics change, crossovers take place, and evolution occurs. One of the best examples of all three can be seen in the coveted guest character.
Koei Tecmo's Integrated Report 2023 published this morning alongside the company's financial results includes interesting insight from veteran Yosuke Hayashi.
Dead or Alive and MK are the only fighting franchises that I've ever been able to enjoy. IMO, they appeal to people who aren't traditionally fighting game fans.
3D fighting games in my opinion:
(Most enjoyable from left to right)
Dead or Alive > Soul Calibur > Mortal Kombat:DA > Vitua Fighter > Street Fighter Ex >>>> Tekken
What I liked in the video was the movement inside the arena.
It was the most believable and natural I 've seen in a 3D fighter.
Here's the problem with DoA. The counters. If they want to improve that system they have to allow the player to 'counter a counter'. Counters should be escapable like throws. If they want to improve DoA; they can start right there. Somehow I think they aren't going to do that.
I really like the DoA series , it has the best fighting arenas , kicking your opponent through windows or smashing them into the scenery is a lot of fun.
I hope the new game has loads of new characters , maybe some guest characters from the Ninja Gaiden series.
