Gamasutra: Game industry veterans from BioWare, Electronic Arts, Zynga and Playdom have teamed up to create Rumble, a company focused on merging fast-paced action games with the casual free-to-play PC market.
Rumble Entertainment was founded by former BioWare CEO Greg Richardson and the team includes developers, executives and product leaders previously with Zynga, Activision, BioWare, Blizzard, Playdom, Electronic Arts, Turbine, LucasArts, and RockYou. Earlier this year, Tokyo-based Korean gaming giant Nexon made a strategic investment in Rumble Entertainment to expand into western market. Nexon has now led another round of funding in this company.
AR: For those who are good with words and word games – and don’t want to compete with a machine – Rumble is a good option from the many games in its category. Although it has a “practice” level to play without a human opponent, the main modes of this game allow for playing with Facebook friends or with a random online player who’s ready to play. The game does require an internet connection for this, so that’s something to consider if connectivity is an issue.
