The hook of Driver: San Francisco is the ability of the lead character, John Tanner, to “shift” in to any car in the city; following an unfortunate turn of events in the first few minutes of the story. From the start the player must set aside the entire concept of Tanner’s new found powers to truly embrace the story. While the rational for this new found power is tedious at best, gamers are left pondering the how and why of all of this. "
