TGE Review- Chantelise: A Tale of Two Sisters
An excerpt:
Chantelise: A Tale of Two Sisters, from the opening cutscene that narrates a piece of folklore about a witch that curses those foolish enough to wander outside during a red moon, feels very much like a fairytale of its own, simple and whimsical. From the art style of the main characters to the ubiquitous, but recognisable clichés, there is a real sense of innocent charm to it, even if it masks a difficult and often ruthless gameplay centre.
Chantelise is the second game released by localisation group Carpe Fulgur, who made a well-deserved name for themselves after the successful release of Recettear: An Item Shop’s Tale. Like Recettear, Chantelise was created by Japanese doujin game group EasyGameStation, and is actually the predecessor of Recettear, being the group’s first attempt at a title with their own original characters and lore.
