Summer months used to be kryptonite for gamers. Not because we don’t like the sun – there will be no offensive stereotypes here – but because the quality of games took a sharper nosedive than Tom Daly near a swimming pool. The winter months would offer huge “triple A” blockbusters to sink our teeth into, while August would heave up the first round of EA Sports games and some extraordinary lazy tie-in tat.
