Capcom Charging $3 For Street Fighter III Additional Colors DLC

Capcom has been going to the frivolous downloadable content well quite a lot lately, but the company's newly announced expansion for Street Fighter III: Third Strike Online Edition for the Sony PlayStation 3 and Microsoft Xbox 360 goes above and beyond ridiculous. The game's first set of DLC is coming next week, and while the various incarnations of Street Fighter IV and Marvel vs Capcom 3 asked players to kick in more money for alternate costumes, Street Fighter III is offering extra color palettes for a fee.

$3 to change the colour on your characters..........no thanks.

AntoineDcoolette5040d ago

"The colors are available in pretty much all modes, but can’t be seen by people who haven’t purchased the DLC."

LOL NO THX WHATS THE POINT THEN

Bereaver5040d ago

What? Can't be seen by others who don't have the content purchased? Why? There's absolutely no reason to buy then.

Spitfire_Riggz5040d ago

I could buy angry birds with that! For me and 2 friends! or like 3 Playstation minis! Or 3 spicy chickens at mcdonalds! WOW

SilentNegotiator5040d ago

Capcom is now charging us for a slight color change in the costumes. You must be kidding me.

Capcom, you're officially on my "Do Not Support" list.

zeal0us5039d ago

Man I thought activision was bad, capcom is becoming just like them maybe even worse.

You seem surprised...o.O its CAPCOM they charge you for hitting start everytime if they could.

aubradley5040d ago

Seriously? $3 for colors? That is beyond ridiculous.

shoddy5040d ago

If I see them I'm gonna tell them to f*** off.

Stryfeno25040d ago (Edited 5040d ago )

WTF is going on with Capcom are they facing financial problem or do they have chimps making their business desicions?

Solidus187-SCMilk5040d ago

HAHAHAHAHA WTF.

I bet their next fighting game will require you to pay 5$ if you want to play 2 player mode.

LOOK_AT_THIS_I5040d ago

yes and it will be Super Street Fighter 3 prime edition, it will also add 4 new characters and all for the low, low price of 39.99 6 months from now.

Skate-AK5040d ago

Hahahahaha this is funny. Plenty of people will buy it though.

"it already gives a lot for 15 bucks"

"not as bad as we've been screwed in MVC3/SF4"

no I'm not making those up. People really are THAT FUCKING STUPID.

rdgneoz35040d ago

Checked the site to see if you were right... God, so many idiots in the world...
"I think it’s funny to see people saying “this stuff should have been in the original game!!!”

The original game has a metric ton of great features already – everything I could get crammed in there prior to launch. As a $15 downloadable, it already blows most of it’s competitors out of the water. And now that it’s out, we’re continuing development and adding even more stuff! How is that a bad thing?"

Or comment #57...

Capcom reveals its PC game [digital] sales overshadow console, and it's only growing

The earnings reports of Capcom's Fiscal year 2024 showcase the growth of PC over console, with 60% of game sales being made on the former.

Vits22d ago

What’s interesting is that, given how well their games sell, it’s very likely most of them fall into the 25/75 revenue split bracket. The larger ones, like Monster Hunter, are in the 20/80 bracket.

So even accounting for the vastly superior regional pricing on PC, I wouldn’t be surprised if revenue-wise from digital sales, both platforms are close, or if PC is ahead as well.

neutralgamer199222d ago (Edited 22d ago )

Yes PC is the biggest platform and it has definitely improved as a home console of sort plug and play. It's the only platform with actual freedom for gamers with modding. I was a console gamer for over 38 years and now I only play on Pc. Whether you are buying pre-built or building it yourself it's now easier than ever before to jump in

And my experience with pc gamers has been excellent, they are helpful with any questions on pc boards

FPS_D3TH21d ago

As a gamer who also loves replaying his old favorite titles, possibly with a few mods as well, I can’t imagine ever getting another console.

Profchaos22d ago (Edited 22d ago )

They spoke about resident evil and monster hunter I would actually find the monster hunter breakdown more interesting tbh as I've always felt like this game would be at home on PC

but for resident evil it's always felt like a PlayStation mainstay despite having exclusivity elsewhere likely because it was where I first played it. The game feels like it's begging to be played lights off in the loungeroom late at night or also in VR I've never been as scared as I was playing re7 in VR

dveio22d ago (Edited 22d ago )

Is this really suprising? Looking at the evolution of the Switch, X|S and Playstation 5?

Eonjay21d ago

The biggest cause is probably the lack of game purchases on the Xbox platform. Also keep in mind this is only digital sales so there is a chunk of sales not being shown here.
