ps3 should get equal attention
xbox should get equal attention
pc should get equal attention

its not fair if one get "more" attention.

dark-hollow4639d ago

Pc should never be equal with it's console counterparts.

digger184639d ago (Edited 4639d ago )

Since console owners pay more for their version, I would say they should get better treatment

edit:
"Since pc owners pay even MORE for their high end PCs, they should always get the superior version"

What complete and utter rubbish. If thats the way you think, well I guess they should charge double for the PC version then.

Why should the console owner pay more if they are going to get the gimped version?

dark-hollow4639d ago (Edited 4639d ago )

Since pc owners pay even MORE for their high end PCs, they should always get the superior version.
That, and console developers has to pay licenses for publishing their game on consoles so that's why console games cost more than pc games.
@logic wins.

If you can't counter a valid argument, just press disagree and move along.
That's how n4g rolls....

LOGICWINS4639d ago

@dark-hollow- Why are you getting disagrees? Everything your saying makes perfect sense.

RemusN74639d ago

The PC version is the one that gets more support, not only by Bethesda, but by the modding community. Plus, TES has always been a PC series, so it seems like they would be giving their "fans" the middle finger if they payed more attention to the 360 version(even though the series has changed so much that I doubt that original Daggerfall or even Morrowind fans will play this).

kcuthbertson4639d ago (Edited 4639d ago )

@digger18

No...Skyrim is $60 on PC too. And they don't have to pay royalties to Sony or MS..It should be cheaper..PC gamers are paying more technically, not console gamers...

Still getting it for PC though.

Edit:
Lol at my disagree's please explain to me how skyrim is not the same price as on consoles? It is..check any site.

digger184639d ago

kcuthbertson

Here in the UK, the PC version is £10 cheaper on the PC (gamestation)

Heartnet4639d ago

Its not Equal Its lesser :) Xbox 360 has gotton the best version Atm im fraid :)

Motorola4639d ago

But in the US, Skyrim is 60$. Check Steam.

ABizzel14639d ago

It shouldn't be getting "attention" it should be getting running like it's expected.

OC_MurphysLaw4639d ago

@dark-hollow your high end PC will ensure you have a superior version on a whole with out special attention. Thats why YOU bought the high end PC...you choose to spend the money so you could tweak settings on your end to get the most out of what you play. Now if you told me you are going to pay Bethesda an extra money for the PC version of the game beyond what retail charges..then yes, I would suggest you should get a version that has been given special treatment. However...you aren't, you won't and thus why your version shouldn't get any other special treatment than the other versions.

BubbleSniper4639d ago (Edited 4639d ago )

i dont know why people disagree with you. I will be bold enough to call the disagrees, idiots.

why should PC users have to deal with dumbed-down games because it has to be EQUAL to limited hardware such as consoles? (apologies console owners)

PC hardware SHOULD be used to the fullest extent that the devs are capable of. end of!

we buy our parts and full well know that we want that higher res, more AA, tessellation, advanced lighting, shadows, reflections, DOF and much, much more!

@Heartnet
sorry bro, but PC ver. is going to have mods and people aren't just going to sit by and let what you claim become true under any circumstances. higher res texture mods, custom skns and what not... I don't believe what you say for even a millisecond

RedDead4639d ago

They should pay equal attention, they're just not going to limit what they're doing on the Pc version. Just go all out on it. Still equal attention to make sure all 3 are stable and can each reach their potential on the hardware

pixelsword4639d ago (Edited 4639d ago )

@ BubbleSniper:

I agree, but call it like it is:

It ain't the PS3 gimping the PC, it's the 360.

GTA has been gimped and so has Rage, FFXIII, Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath, and likely Crysis 2 because that was such a kick in the pants disappointment from the first game in many respects.

And to be honest, I hope the larger DVD size helps, and I think it will for many games; but to place blame on both the PS3 and 360. Until 360 exclusives or multi-platform games come out that are noticeably larger or has more going on than games in the past, that will be the deciding factor to truly say that such an issue is resolved.

Finally, as far as mods, the PS3 already has games that you can mod in; it's up to the developers to take advantage of it.

dark-hollow4639d ago (Edited 4639d ago )

I find it funny it's ok to say the 360 is gimping the ps3 and it doesnt reach it full potential thus it need more attintion,
But be gone in hell if you sayed the pc is being gimped by ps3/360.
Even tho the difference between the pc and ps3 is WAAAAAAY bigger than the gap between the ps3 and the 360.

yamzilla4639d ago Show
Jack_DangerousIy4639d ago

Didn't see THAT response coming. You really help give your fellow pc gamers a good name. Good job.

kwyjibo4639d ago

"Since console owners pay more for their version, I would say they should get better treatment."

What an utter, utter crock. They pay more for their version, because they have to pay their licensing tax to the platform holders.

The margin from a PC game is higher, because not only do they skip the tax, digital distribution is significantly more popular on that platform which reduces the costs and middlemen.

And the PC should get the better treatment anyway, given that it's the benchmark. That is, if the developers have any artistic credibility whatsoever, because the PC offers the greatest canvas due to its significant technical advantage.

You can then gimp it down and then cut out the stuff those 2006 machines can't run.

dragunrising4639d ago

Comments like this and below reinforce the stereotype that PC gamers are grade A douches.

I'm glad that console gamers have mostly put aside their fanboyism to fight the growing PC elitism evident on almost every article discussing graphics.

Whatever version of Skyrim you end up buying, you'll get more than your monies worth. End of debate.

DaTruth4639d ago (Edited 4639d ago )

I have an HDTV; yet most channels are shown in SD! Why? Some people pay more for 3DTV's; yet 99% of content is in 2D. Why? Because that is the way it is!

Paying more for my hardware doesn't automatically mean I will get upgraded content; that is the price you pay! If you blindly walk into that, you are a victim of your own ignorance!

That is why you're getting disagrees; because that is not the way the world works and most people know this!

Edit: Also, the product that brings in the most money will always get the most attention and as much as it bothers PC guys, consoles sell more software, like 2DTV is watched by more people and thus brings in more ad revenue!

NukaCola4639d ago

Well each system should have equaly treatment in the fact the devs should give each system its maximum potential. I mean not one system should be a port or get the short end of the stick. Regardless of the outcome, each version should be given it;s fullest care. Of course the Pc will get the best because it is the most advanced system. And of course PS3 and 360 should be maximumized as well.

It may not seem equal, but what I mean is they give the PC 110% attention, PS3 and 360 deserve 110% as well.

I feel I am not getting my point across the way I want. Even if there was a Wii version, I am jst stating they should still use the system to it's full potential.

Anyway I am glad that they are ensuring the PS3 version will be up to par. This game look crazy awesome. I really would like to see how the new engine works with PS3. Gamebryo wasn't too kind.

hiredhelp4639d ago

Its a sad world we live in this erea were you have words like Fanboy's and Meh" and have people hate on watever you prefer.
Now it seems console rage has turned into people hating on pc gamers.

Sad very Sad. Enjoy what you have screw the rest

bozebo4639d ago (Edited 4639d ago )

By saying that the ps3 version is getting a ton of attention they mean that it is getting just as much attention as other platforms - which would be a ton.

"Since console owners pay more for their version, I would say they should get better treatment"

Console owners pay more for their version but less of it goes to the developer than the PC version, they have to pay a platform fee to Sony/MS and pay for the packaging and distribution (compared to a digital purchase for example).

PC doesn't need anything special tbh, Bethesda already have the 'mod' tools for use in-house so it's just a case of releasing them.

And often the source textures used to model some assets are higher resolution than those on the consoles, so the highest level mip-map on PC is often higher res (i.e. the artists made them like that anyway).

None of that takes any extra effort from the developer, it is just the decision to allow the benefits to exist. That is why developers like Bethesda are good and a lot of people complain about console ports from other developers - because they naively refuse to allow simple benifits to happen.

MaxXAttaxX4639d ago (Edited 4639d ago )

We all know where that usually leads. So they say this to make sure people know that it'll be equal.

gamingdroid4639d ago (Edited 4639d ago )

***Comments like this and below reinforce the stereotype that PC gamers are grade A douches.***

It seems it swings both ways:

a) PC gamers upset consoles are holding back their game

b) PS3 gamers blame it on Xbox 360

c) Xbox 360 gamers blame it on PS3

Everyone else just plays the game, never knows the difference, never cares and just enjoys the game!

There are compromises whichever way you swing sometimes more on one than the other, but no matter what platform there are compromises. In essence they all hold back games. If you think anything otherwise, you are ignorant!

Corrwin4639d ago

This is Bethesda we're talking about.

Even when they only made PC games they ended up buggy and unoptimized for several months after release.

ikkokucrisis4639d ago

If the framerates are like the Fallout 3 series, I'll pass on this one.

Takoulya4639d ago

The platform with the highest potential should get more attention, IMO. PC should be the highest priority, and the PS3/360 should be made about equal.

Jdoki4639d ago

In an ideal world that may be true.

But the reality is they will ALL be given just enough attention to ensure the product ships on time with no show-stopping bugs or major issues.

It'll then be patched to remove more minor bugs and add a few optimisations if possible.

Corrwin4639d ago

Surely if you can optimize the code to make the PS3 and 360 beautiful, the PC will look even better without effort?

Heartnet4639d ago

Console shud get more attention as thats where most of their sales will come from :)

modesign4639d ago

people that buy a game for console compared to pc is 1000 to 1, so its obvious that the console versions are getting more attention, its good to optimize both console and pc versions,

kcuthbertson4639d ago

@modesign

I bet you everything I own that it's not 1000 to 1... made 3 or 4 to 1...but not 1000

PCE4639d ago

I agree. The whining is ridiculous when all you need to do is to build a gaming rig and enjoy the game in all its glory without the console limitations. How is this difficult to wrap your head around these facts?

M-A-R-S-H-A-L-L4639d ago

They're paying attention more to the PS3 version so the game looks equal on both consoles, including the PC.

kcuthbertson4639d ago

Lol, it will not look equal on PC. I guarantee it.

Heartnet4639d ago

Although THe ps3 will always be the lesser version thanks to exclusive dlc :)

Bladesfist4639d ago (Edited 4639d ago )

Yer 1080p + 60fps and better textures and faster loading and mod support. Equal right?

JsonHenry4639d ago (Edited 4639d ago )

Bethesda has almost always delivered across all platforms in the past. I am sure they will do so again with such a high profile title. Anyone that thinks they are not giving this title their very best is kidding themselves.

BattleTorn4639d ago

Ever played Fallout3 or New Vegas on every platform.

They do not compare, unfortunately they always go

PC>Xbox>PS3

I know because I actually bought a PS3 hoping it would run better than Xbox.

The PS3 always had nicer textures, but the Aliasing is laughable.

I wish developers and publishers would actually utilize the PS3 instead of lying about each consoles version being equal... When rally they've port to Xbox first
(hense the 360 only footage)

SasquatchXD4639d ago (Edited 4639d ago )

My bad I posted the same thing twice.

SasquatchXD4639d ago

New Vegas was from Obsidian.

Oblivion played great on both consoles, I preferred the controller for 360 more but I never noticed any difference between the two. granted, I never put them side to side, but who does that anyway?(journalists and fanboys excluded)

zeddy4639d ago

fallout 3 looked like shit on the ps3, oblivion played like shit on the ps3 until they fixed it a year later(i'm not waiting a year). i honestly think this one will be far inferior to the 360 version. if so i cant play it knowing theres a better option and i'm noting buying an expensive pc because i just dont have the money, and before you pc fan boys starting whining, its not cheap to build a rig to play rage, bf3 or skyrim at full settings, so no i wont buy a pc.

bozebo4639d ago (Edited 4639d ago )

"PC>Xbox>PS3"

That was probably due to thier old engine. Skyrim's engine is new, so there is no way of knowing yet if the ps3 or 360 version will run smoother.

LNDCalling4639d ago (Edited 4639d ago )

pc tends to get less attention as Dev's tend to rely on raw hardware horsepower to do their job for them!

Making the console versions look good where the hard work lies..

Hicken4638d ago

Bubs up for tellin it like it is.

LNDCalling4635d ago

@Hicken Thanks :)

It is what it is but I'm not sure most people realise that fact!

Ju4639d ago (Edited 4639d ago )

Same attention across platforms, but pushing each to its limit.

It's a money issue. The reason software companies cannot do this.

Miiikeyyy4639d ago ShowReplies(1)
leemo194639d ago (Edited 4639d ago )

consoles should get equal attention. Pc should never be as equal as consoles, pc have the best visuals, performance, etc etc for gaming for a reason. Making pc as equal as consoles just cause consoles cant do the high in mark like pc can, would be stupidest thing and waste of raw power pc has.
Plus pc people spend the money to make the game actually look good and take advantage of what dev is trying to accomplish with the game.

PCE4639d ago (Edited 4639d ago )

Sorry but the PC version will be the superior version among Skyrim and the majority (if not all) of cross platform games. This is the way it has been and it won't change anytime soon. If you want the superior version, then get a gaming PC. It's that simple.

zeddy4639d ago

ps3 is getting a ton of attention? this is a i'll believe when i see it moment. they've poured all their efforts in the pc version first, then they will port it to the xbox because its processors are similar to that of a pc and they will put a lot of effort in making that look good too, then last but not least its the ps3 turn and we all know what that means. there wont be enough time to make it look good, no doubt it can be done but they jst dont have enough time.

Ultra Gamer4639d ago

@Supman Developers should take advantage of the PC's superior power.

kcuthbertson4639d ago

Of course they should but in their defense it is very hard to do since everyone has different levels of combined and powerful hardware. It's not the same process to optimize a game running on an i7 and a 580 as it is an old dual core and 4650..

Smelly1sam4634d ago

I just don't understand why people cant spend 400$ to build a gaming pc

They trowing in their own windows...

If the PS3 version is infested with bugs, or framerate drops people will complain en remember it..

So next time, people are more carefull to spend their money! Look at FNV... great game but full of bugs and glitches and stuttering gameplay.

@ Tr10wn
The game was made by Obsidian, but still...Bethesda.. Their the ones who published it, and are responsible for the 'gold version'? Besides that, Fallout 3 was the same glitchy gameplay..

Tr10wn4639d ago

blame obsidian not bethesda....

Neckbear4639d ago (Edited 4639d ago )

...Actually, I heard that in F:NV's development Bethesda was in charge of QA, instead of Obsidian.

And it's not like Bethesda's other releases, Fallout 3 and Oblivion, especially, weren't both filled with bugs and glitches when they first came out.

That's why one shouldn't buy a Bethesda game on the first day, or week- at least not if he/she wants to have a smooth, bug-free experience instead of something practically broken.

On the bright side, at least most glitches get patched and issues are fixed...six months after release.

BattleTorn4639d ago

Fallout 3 (developed by Bethesda) ran way smoother on Xbox.

They never take the time to truly utilize the PS3 hardware, and lie about it up to release

Tr10wn4639d ago

Bethesda is the publisher you say it, they handed the money their engine and obsidian did everything else, is not bethesdas fault, sure bethesda had problems with the bugs in the past but nothing compare to NV the game was unplayable in PC for about 2 weeks after launch, since the day they announce the game and i saw the obsidian logo i know it was going to be bad, they have a past in gaming, they know how to make a successful serie into a mediocre one ex: kotor 2, nwt2, dungeon siege 3 they never had make a good game, alpha protocol was a mass effect rip off but super mediocre, Fallout: New Vegas was doom since announcement.

raWfodog4639d ago

“We don’t ever specify what platform screens or footage comes from. It’s usually a mix.”

According to him, we've seen footage from all three consoles and just didn't know it. You guys think he's telling the truth?

kcuthbertson4639d ago

Idk, since basically all the footage that we've seen by Todd Howard he's said "And this is all Xbox 360 footage"...

I really don't think we've seen PC footage especially.

fossilfern4639d ago

Sure look at the PS3 version of Oblivion it turned out to be the better version apparently

digger184639d ago (Edited 4639d ago )

Why the disagree's?
The PS3 version was a full 720p
Even after the update on the xbox, it was still sub HD on it.

Just looked it up and its 1024 x 600 on the Xbox 360, even after its update

kingdoms4639d ago (Edited 4639d ago )

He got disagrees because the ps3 version came out over a year later with a new engine build that had 13 or 14 months of improvements. Later the devs patched these improvements in the retail 360 version. Even before the 360 retail patch the devs used the new engine on the 360 DLC expansion that came out later that look better than the ps3 DLC.

I don't think the dev is telling the truth. Every gaming event was shown and boasted to be the 360 version. I've never seen mixed showing of the game. I think he's being pressured by PS3 fanboys. Perhaps he is talking about pics here and there.

EDIT

LOL disagrees I guess the ps3 version didn't come out over a year later with a new engine build that had improvements over both the pc version and the 369 version LOL.

BlackTar1874639d ago

people are probably disagreeing with this. Since i did a Google search and found nothing that stated what you did. That and the fact your a known 360 troll

"Even before the 360 retail patch the devs used the new engine on the 360 DLC expansion that came out later that look better than the ps3 DLC."

and your a big troll at that

BattleTorn4639d ago

x100 agree.

They are merely talking to PS3 fanboys.

And just like Fallout3 the PS3 will be the worst!

Which makes me sick, cause they toot their own horns up to release about how they gotten the most out of each platform which will turn out to be a lie.

I will be playing this one Xbox, cause they won't utilize the PS3s capabilities..

This is what happens when they make PC, port to Xbox cause it easy, show only 360 footage, then port PS3.
This is also because they know the 360 nearly 3times the pre-orders in America.

Bethesda Utilize the PS3 Please!!!

Angrymorgan4639d ago

Oblivion was better on ps3, had both versions, textures were better on shields etc, also xbox version suffers from jumpy loading/streaming when travelling in game, however fallouts were much better on 360, skyrim I'm predicting will be very similar on both, just like all recent multiplats are.

tee_bag2424639d ago

I can verify it was a lovely build on the PS3. Apparently Betheda dropped the ball with Fallout on PS3 so I'm doubting PS3 will have an edge with the same launch date as the others.

maniac764639d ago

obviously if the ps3 version is gonna be all it can be,it will need "more attention" cause its not easy like the box to dev for, wots the problem now lol

"I started playing games yesterday" the List... Meh!

How about a few RPGs that deserve some love instead?
1 - Alpha Protocol - Now on GOG
2 - else Heart.Break()
3 - Shadowrun Trilogy
4 - Wasteland 2
5 - UnderRail
6 - Tyranny
7 - Torment: Tides of Numenera

And for a bonus game that flew under the radar:
8 - Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden

DustMan38d ago

Loved Alpha Protocol in all it's glorious jank. Great game.

SimpleSlave38d ago (Edited 38d ago )

Not only glorious jank, but the idea that the story can completely change depending on what you do, or say, or side with, makes it one of the most forward thinking games ever. The amount of story permutation is the equivalent of a Hitman level but in Story Form. And it wasn't just that the story changed, no, it was that you met completely new characters, or missed them, depending on your choices. Made Mass Effect feel static in comparison.

Alpha Protocol was absolutely glorious, indeed. And it was, and still is, more Next Gen than most anything out there these days. In this regard at least.

Pity.
