Gamescom: Battlefield 3 vs. Uncharted 3 – Which one looked better?

"Gamescom started off with a bang today. Loads of new stuff shown was shown by all of the big guns, but two particular games stood tall amongst all. Yes, we are talking about Battlefield 3 and Uncharted 3. Both are arguably two of the most anticipated and also the best looking games to grace any platform later this year. So we decided to compare both of these graphical power-houses in a mini comparison, based on the screenshots that were shared with us today. "

That's... stupid... Sorry, but you don't compare graphical quality of games intended for different platforms for any relevant point or value unless said platforms are themselves comparable. It's just a waste of time doing that since it matters not a single bit.

Why not compare the graphics of BF3 on PC versus BF3 on 3DS?

Isn't this apples to oranges? Uncharted is heavily scripted and very linear. Battlefield is spontaneous and enormous.

The graphics are a direct result of the gameplay. Uncharted could not pull off half the visuals of the Battlefield if you scaled the game to be like Battlefield. Likewise, Battlefield would melt your eyeballs with it's awesomeness if it was linear and heavily scripted like Uncharted.

So, yes it does matter. Don't know how else to explain it, but it is most definitely apples to oranges.

Yea, the co-op and actual live gameplay they showed was PS3, but the jet trailer that was showed was on PC, and thats what the images are from.

Its a comparison between high specs for a pc and 5 yr old tech pushed to its limit. If that is the ps3, then my hats go off to dice as they have leaped over naughty dog as console kings and mw3 is dead in the water. But it is impressive what naughty dog have been able to get out of the ps3 that this is even a question being posed.

Both are. Battlefield is a military FPS game. Uncharted 3 is a third person action/adventure game. They are nothing alike and the author of this crappy article should question why he wrote it.

I'm tired of people calling BF3 'another' military shooter! It's way more. It is a class based, team orientated, objective driven fps with a huge focus on vehicular combat. Not just another military shooter.

Also BF3 crushes uncharted 3. Heavy weight Vs. Feather weight, why bother put them against each other?

Bf3 no contest. Un3 isnt much better than un2 but what makes it great is the art design. Thats top notch but bf3 is almost photo realism.

Anyway, I thought the lighting in the Uncharted stage demo was brilliant. It really made a difference. The Battlefield coop demo, I didn't even know was PS3 until later. I honestly don't care which looks better. I'll be playing both. Though BF3 gives me a reason to finally get around to building a new PC. If anyone has some suggestions, I would appreciate it.

Those are clearly PC pics of BF3.

Just look at the airplane pictures, That HDR lighting is in real time in the BF3 pic which easily lets me know that it is PC (plus a ton of other things).

UC3 looks good but let's compare it against Crysis 2 PS3 or BF3 PS3!!

emh BF3 will obviously be superior in gameplay and content, the MP just isnt interesting on uncharted for me, it feels incredibly awkward to control, weapons lack punch, full autos dominate the game, small enclosed maps, adding in dynamic cutscenes doesnt make the gameplay better in anyway.

Then you look at BF3, massive open maps, land , sea & air vehicles, confrimed weapons list is huge! depth to each soilder class, depth to the vehicles e.g flares, secondary fire, full weapon customisation...it goes on.

Sure Uncharted will likely have more interesting characters, and a nice story but like kojima said watching BF3 is like watching a Documentary, its more real and immersive than a hollywood style endaevor like UC or COD.

UC3 obviously wont be a bad game but as far as im concerned BF3 has it all when it comes to shooters, As for which looked better, stupid comparison really, its subjective to each person but I think BF3 with its superb animations and all the other effects is more of a tech achievement than UC3.

Uncharted 3 looked great for a console game but it isn't really a fair contest because bf3 looked amazing (because it was lead designed for the PC).

So BF3 was definitely better but Uncharted3 didn't really stand a chance.

Personally I think Uncharted 3 will look better. Reason being that BF3 is multiplat, whereas Uncharted 3 is designed from the ground up to run like a God on PS3.
