Ironhammers Live #51: PC Gaming Podcast

Ironhammers writes: It’s a short one this week, namely due to the fact that there’s been few new releases lately. However, we manage to pull out a few news topics such as; a tablet from Pierre Cardin, Notch vs Bethesda, the launch of a Tropico 4 demo and Red Orchestra 2 being delayed. We also discuss what we’ve been playing, which is very little… although Bobby does discuss a little Trucks & Trailers goodness. Finally, we wrap up with our question of the week, which thanks to the lack of games lately, asks: “What PC games are you looking forward to?”

It's all about Path of Exile, booooyeeeee!!

-Mika-192d ago

Im glad he leaving. Bethesda has been terrible under his leadership. Redfall, Starfield, Fallout76 and the list goes on an on. His leadership style is outdated. Hopefully, MS bring someone in that knows what they are doing.

RhinoGamer88192d ago

I will give you Fallout 76, but Redfall and Starfield's blame needs to fall somewhat on the terrible Xbox publishing team. With all their resources and supposed smarts...they fungled it.

VenomUK192d ago

@Mika He’s the communications guy - you can’t blame him for the quality of the product.

jznrpg192d ago

Maybe they can go to their earlier purchases for replacements . Like Rare devs , Gear devs or 343, one of the very few studios they built up and man they are great.

Crows90192d ago

That could work ...if MS knew what they were doing themselves ...

But let's be real. Xbox was in charge of redfall and Starfield. They just don't know what a good game looks like.

I interviewed at Bethesda once, and while there were some very smart mid level team members, the upper ranks (EP/VP/Studio Head) were a total boys' club. The Madmen series ego in that lunch was stiffling.

Pete Hines was against locking out the majority of their console playerbase (ps gamers). Probably disgusted at the hypocrisy of white knight Phil assuring PS gamers that they can still play COD. Acquisition goes through, Hines goes out.

Goodbye Pete.

gold_drake192d ago

i wonder if he was asked to leave.

im pretty sure not everyone was on board with the acquisition.

Profchaos192d ago

Pretty much everyone outside of Todd has made snide comments against the acquisition but money talks

Minecraft Players Create Anti-Mojang Propaganda to End “Lazy” Mob Vote

The Minecraft community are calling for a Mob Vote boycott, labelling it "lazy" and even creating anti-Mojang propaganda to rally players.

Jin_Sakai199d ago

“One user explained the community’s sentiment perfectly, sharing how “the fact that they’re a year off and add like, two mobs, a few blocks, and some bug fixes is absurd. I’ve seen modders do that s**t in WEEKS. and then… they open a mob vote as if they can’t just add all three.”

They can’t even get a current gen version out the door 3 years in. Mojang is a joke anymore.

-Foxtrot199d ago

I'm really happy people are actually banding together on this and giving the middle finger to Mojang finally, it's nice to see fans stop being blind and ask for more.

Minecraft is the game that could have went above and beyond after Microsoft bought them years back but they just haven't done anything. It feels like they've gotten lazier than what they were before being bought..

Updates take months to come out and when they do they are barebones compared to what they could have been and they want to rub salt in the wound still by making people choose between things to add.

They kept relying on mods, like if someone says "I feel Minecraft should have X, Y and Z" it will be "Well there's a mod for that, go and download it instead"

The game doesn't even have basic home decorations like chairs, tables, counters, sinks, more light sources, wallpaper, showers, toilers, cupboards, TVs, alternatives for the Jukebox, double beds without putting two singles together and so on.

What happens when you ask for something as simple as chairs? Die hard fanboys...

"The game is supposed to be about creativity, so use a Stair block as a chair and if you want a table put a fence pole down and put a pressure plate on top"

Honestly...it's crazy, that make shift shit is good at the START of the game when you have nothing but later on you want to start aiming for better things to make and create.

They are owned by MS who don’t know what the difference between good and bad moves , good to bad games even. The one area MS is good at is monetizing games.

Although the late 2000s Turok wasn't my favorite, I would love a new entry. Open world survival with shotguns and dinosaurs. Not sure how we'd get the fusion cannon, but that would be pretty sweet too.

MadLad594d ago

Lol

All of these games are pretty much universally praised. Outside of Timeshift I literally own all of these.

XIII, The Darkness 2, Far Cry: Blood Dragon, Timesplitters: future perfect, Bulletstorm are awesome games
