Rockstar's "disdain" for LA Noire dev

Two former Bondi staffers, speaking to Eurogamer sister site under condition of anonymity, claim Rockstar's relationship with Team Bondi reached such a low point during the course of the creation of 1940s crime adventure L.A. Noire that it now has "disdain" for the Australian developer.

As a result, Rockstar will not publish Team Bondi's next game, the former staff members claimed.

Rockstar are a bunch of hypocrites. Remember the Rockstar Sandiego scandal? They also worked 100's of hours to complete RDR, it got to the point where the developers wives got pissed and decided to make it public.

Rockstar are being asses right now.

I understand how people can get mad about workers on an art/entertainment medium can tend to be terribly terribly overworked but like you said, it's nothing new in the video game industry.

Even look at the movie industry. Hands up if anyone knows the hours per day per week needed for every worker to make a movie. Anyone? 18-20 hour days, 6-7 days a week for anywhere from 2-8 weeks in general. It's nothing new.

does that include not getting paid for overtime? or not getting credit for the work they put in?

I don't understand it. they make amazing games but they act like such pr*cks.

I'm torn on whether i should love them for the games they make or hate them for how they treat their employees.

You could still love the hard-working employees. It's not like they didn't make the game...

Sorry, but what does that mean, Suck my hoof?

ReservoirDog3162666d ago (Edited 2666d ago )

Shake my head I believe. Though that could work too. Most would struggle to use that one in the proper context though.

@ReserviourDog316: Haha, thanks for that.

I've worked at Rockstar for a year in the PS2 days, the 6 months leading up to release are constant work, 6 or 7 days a week with 12-16 hour days.

However, I assumed most developers were like this. The money you have saved at the end of those 6 months is brilliant since when you work you have no time for anything else!

When I worked there Rockstar Leeds were fucking up the PSP GTA so badly people from our office got sent there to fix the game and show them what to do.

Whats up with Rockstar and shitty managers? You'd think a publisher that big could afford to spend money on people who get the job done right the first time.

SlickShoes2666d ago

There were a few people there who were there just because they had been there since the beginning. My manager was widely hated by everyone but pretty much unsackable!
