Kristan Reed (Modojo): Little angry robots need love too. But it's a special kind of love that one formally expresses via the ancient art of turn-based combat and fruit machines.
GameVortex: Developer Hexage has been busy carving out an interesting space in mobile gaming over the past few years. The first title that hit our radar was Everlands for Android, which was a colorful tabletop strategy game. The later entries from this company took a much more minimal approach, which Robotek HD inherited for this iOS release. The graphics are done in a retro style that will remind you of the great Atari arcade titles like Battlezone. There are only minor changes from scene to scene as you progress in Robotek HD, leading to some potential for design-fatigue to set in.
John Bedford (Modojo): It's fair to say that freemium gaming has gained a poor reputation with core gamers, and it's no secret that mobile gamers see the worst excesses of "free" gaming more than most. To counter this, and reassure ourselves that it's not all doom and gloom, we've rounded up some our favorite free games that won't end up breaking the bank.
