With the announcement of a new Wipeout game, Wipeout 2048, being released on PSVita as a launch title it seems apt to take a look back at the series and see what makes Wipeout such a popular series that stands out from the crowd.
I want a new one on PS3 with Killzone 3/Uncharted 3 graphics, full tracks editor, full ships customization, customizable characters.
A online world were you can walk with your character outside of the track and meet gamers/racers and buy and sell parts and to improve your ship.
After the race you get on your car and go looking around for missions and quest to collect money and rare parts. Arcade Racing Game with Third Person Action RPG mechanics.
Coop up to 4 players. Possibility to make your own team with two friend for racing championship.
"A online world were you can walk with your character outside of the track and meet gamers/racers and buy and sell parts and to improve your ship." That would be cool if sony integrated home for a feature like that in games.
This is one of my favorite series. I just got HD & HD Fury when the PSN Store came back up and it was a great choice.
I'm going to tell more people about this series but I'm glad it remains a pretty hardcore almost niche title.
The tracks, handling and feel of the Wipeout series are and always will be in a class of there own.
