GameFocus Review - Operation Flashpoint: Red River

GameFocus writes: "Less than two years after Dragon Rising, Codemasters introduces Operation Flashpoint: Red River to the gaming-sphere. This new entry in the popular tactical military shooter franchise continues to bank on its ultra-realistic pedigree to attract the long-time followers, but also tries to mix up things differently in order to bring in new adepts. Operation Flashpoint isn’t Call of Duty or Battlefield and was never about foul-mouthed soldiers or cinematic cut-scenes. Personally, I never really felt the franchise needed to go elsewhere else from a presentation standpoint. To me, its important that the gaming market gets different experiences, particularly in a genre where every studio wants a piece of the sacred pie."

Some mediocre - crap games there. Couldn't even include any Codemasters racing games? It's the only thing they're good at.

Canadiangamernet3612d ago

Including the Dirt series in the bundle would have been awesome but i wouldn't say they are crappy games. I liked Overlord 1 & 2 and both Operation Flashpoint are decent FPS the other one are so so for me.

guitarded773612d ago

Like I said... crappy to mediocre. I liked Overlord too. Didn't care for Operation Flashpoint. But eve liking Overlord, I have no illusions that it isn't a mediocre game.

Even though it's still technically a good deal, the whole $5 or £4 thing annoys me. Humble bundle doesn't do this. No thanks.

Operation Flashpoint: Red River - The Shooter That Could Have Been The Greatest

Mobile & Apps: "One of the most underrated shooters of the previous generation was Operating Flashpoint: Red River for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. With all its problems, I believe this is a game that is worth playing, however, it is not too hard to see why the game didn't quite kick off, as it should have."

I liked it, didn't quite finish it though. Maybe I will now.

Loved this game, it was dumbed down from Dragon Rising but still an enjoyable game. Was still offputting to people looking for instant/non stop action

Ha! Some colleagues and I are actually planning on hitting this one up tonight. Great game.
