IGN: Alice: Madness Returns Review

On one hand, Alice: Madness Returns presents a fantastically imagined vision of Wonderland full of secrets, collectables, and wondrous areas of classic platforming to explore. But through questionable level design, graphical inconsistency, and repetitive gameplay, I was pulled out of the experience more than I would have liked. Alice: Madness Returns is a memorable peek through a flawed looking glass.

I hope people actually READ the review.

This is day 1 for me.

It sounds exactly like Alice 1. Could care less if it's not graphically superior, or some measly frame rate drops.

Harsh Score to be honest. Homefront a generic fps scores higher than this.

Sad, just because the platforming, or graphics might not suit your fancy doesn't mean you should give it a 6.5/10...let alone the fact you gave a game with the same atrocious graphics, and a more generic game a 7.5/10...:/

I hope everybody at least try the game.

Ive been playing it on my 360 and Im planing on buying it on PS3. The game is really awesome. A great adventure game in the veins of a good Zelda game. Why it recieved such a bad score?? I really dont know but Im really tired that Nintendo games like Mario and Zelda didnt needed great graphics because the gameplay was ( more of the same) awesome and when a game like this wich has great sound, graphics and gameplay come out everybody nitpick it.

Try it at least rent it you are not going to regret.
Ohh and BTW... Duke Nukkem Forever is not the great game we expected. Its not a Halo killer or as serious as COD or as graphically advanced as Killzone 3, but is a really one over the to MF of a game... very hilarious and even with all its flaws its very enjoyable.

To each its own but I must say that at least I tried them and I enjoyed the Duke so far and Im amazed with Alice so far...

Same thing with Duke LOL they gave that a bad score also.

Looks like summer games could use a quality control boost. Aside from Infamous 2, there haven't been any games come out that received universal acclaim. Its a shame too. I was looking forward to the Duke, Brink, Red Faction: Armageddon, Hunted, etc...Whats going on?! At least Zelda: Oot is coming out this month.

TheLastGuardian20104305d ago

Uh dude there's a bunch of other games coming out..

Child of Eden
Dungeon Siege III
Shadows of The Damned (from Suda 51)
F.E.A.R 3
Zelda: Oot

This june has easily been the most jam packed june in YEARS...

But regardless why do you need reviews to tell you whats good and what's bad? Be your OWN reviewer mate.

Like for example these Alice 2 reviews are complete and utter rubbish. Seriously, they are. Play the games for yourself, don't let others make opinions for you.

dragunrising4305d ago (Edited 4305d ago )

I agree with you, although to be fair I was talking about the games already released. Child of Eden, and Shadows of the Damned have been on my radar for a while. Fear 3 and Dungeon Siege 3 I have reservations about as I consider them PC franchises (and my pc isn't up to stuff). We will see. The next two games I'm really excited for are Zelda and Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

I don't believe all the reviews to the word, however sometimes have to trust them. If there isn't a demo or game trial, I put more stock in the metacritic/aggregate rating than I would like. At the moment I have very limited time to play games :-( Perhaps I'm missing out on good, unique experiences, although I do my best. If I miss out on a gem I usually pick it up later. I just nabbed Vanquish. Glad I did.

TheLastGuardian20104305d ago

I see. Well like I said trust your own opinions. Just because X game get's a X score on metacritic doesn't mean crap anymore. Games like Nier, and Deadly Premonitions are a testament to that.

But yeah so much in the pipeline that I'm excited for (in july and august)....

Catherine
El Shaddai
Serious Sam 3
Call of Juarez: The Cartel
Deus Ex: Human Rev.
War Hammer: 40K
Lord of The Rings: War in The North

Good couple months ahead.

Shouldn't the game be a 7.0? You know, the average of 6.5 + 6.5 + 7.0 + 7.5 + 7.5 ...

As for the game, waiting to get it cheaper down the line. Busy with too many games atm as it is.

IGN's overall scores never add up.

They're not supposed to.
