It's been over a year since the new game was revealed, the game is what it is, no one actually expected a true X-COM game, deal with it.

They could have made it much more faithful to the original and it would have done very well. There are ways to incorporate the same game play and concepts, without alienating a newer generation.

I mean, I think most people who have a memory of playing the originals understood that the chances of them creating something even remotely like them was about as likely as a politician telling the truth, it's still a bummer to hear.

Recreating that for a console audience, would be like giving a TI86 calculator to a snail and expecting it to graph a function. It sounds good in theory, but the snail just doesn't have the thumbs...

This game will never live up to the proper X-Com games. X-Com is regarded as one of the all time great games in history, I cannot see this one ever getting to same accolade.

I just don’t understand it. I played the original X-Coms and as a tactical RPG strategy game, why change the formula?

And if you are going to change the genre of the game, why not call it something else?

I've been wondering the same thing.

They could have just called it "BioInvasion" and called it a day.

Using the name "XCOM" and then changing the formula to a standard-fare shooter is like a huge slap in the face to the original fans.

I really want a new Commandos game but I feel it would just go the same route as this so called XCom game.
