SegmentNext - "Duke Nukem Forever has finally been released, FINALLY. This means you can now play the game you first heard of in your childhood, atleast I did. But due to long painful delay, there may be possible scraps of old code that still needs cleaning up, resulting in you experiencing graphics and performance issues, in case you avoid the random crashes plaguing the Duke's launch".
Duke Nukem Forever originally began its life as a sidescroller instead of a shooter back in 1996, and that canceled version has just been leaked.
Very cool, but i don't know how real this is... I'll check it out later to find out.
Duke Nukem Forever, the troubled FPS from Gearbox and 3D Realms, has been restored to more traditional 90s shooter thanks to a sweeping “remaster” mod
kinda of a misleading title.
Mod features:
Sprinting removed and faster player movement
Jump height increased
Swim speed is much faster
Player can now hold breath underwater for 45 seconds instead of 15
Weapon rebalance and screen shake when shooting removed
2/4 weapon limit completelly removed
Quicksaves (F5 by default)
Depth of Field removed and new post processing effects
Driving sections are now in first person perspective
yw.
Duke Nukem Forever, the infamous and controversial FPS from 3D Realms, apparently looked much better before launch, as modders discover various cut features
Wow, that advanced lighting makes a huge difference to the visuals. I get that Gearbox tried to slap everything together and release a finished product. But it seems like they cut out a lot of content that would have made the experience more enjoyable. That's a shame.
For one moment I thought it was the console version that had issues. Haven't seen any reviews out on this site yet....
Had no issues at all...
I can't say I have run into any of these problems in my play through of Duke Nukem Forever and I have nearly finished the single player campaign. Not had a single crash in nearly 12 hours of playing it.
I am not saying these issues don't exist just because the game works fine on my machine. I am just saying like all PC titles due to the vast number of PC configurations you are bound to run into some systems that encounter problems with games. This happens with ALL games it is not an indication as to the quality of the game.
At least its out finally now the new owners may do somethin decent with series.
