NGP Games - Price vs. Quality, Which is more important?

NGP games have been a hot topic for handheld console fans. No one knows how much they will cost, but Sony has said that they are likely to be more expensive than other handheld games. Some believe they will cost as much as PS3 games, while others think the prices will be only slightly more expensive than PSP games.

According to Sony, it is far better to make good quality games and sell them for a higher price than it is to make low-rated games and sell them for a lower price. While this may be true in some cases, not all gamers will want to invest hundreds of dollars in buying all the latest games. Nintendo 3DS games already average $40, so NGP platforms are likely to be the same or even higher. Since the games are using the same technology as the PS3, buyers would be expected to pay more to get better quality.

How about mixing it up so that you can get smaller games for cheaper and get bigger high budget games as well.

PSP games will likely be playable on the NGP, so if you want cheap games you could just buy those and PSOne classics!

That seems pointless to me, so I will just pay the cost to play like the boss!

If the games are quality, I'm willing to pay $50 for them. Although, I could be in the minority, since I want a "tricked out" NGP with 3G and all.

both.....quality was the ps3 hardware... price was the wii....both was the 360 (minus the RROD)

Quality all the way. The price will drop but we are stuck with the same hardware till the next one comes out so it better be of good quality

They are equally important. If you got cheap price but good quality games it would be good for the consumers but the company itself would be losing profit. If it got and high price but low quality games, it would be good for the company but bad for the consumer which end the company would still lose profit overall.

The device will need both inexpensive games, and expensive, quality games, to be truly successful. I'm not saying that expensive == quality, but... it does at least mean a higher production value, typically.

I don't think I'd buy/play a GTA game that cost $1-2 million to make, for example, even if it only cost me $5. ...but I DO want GTA on the NGP. And I'll pay some good $$ for it, because I want the devs to spend a good $10-20M at least, on making it cool.

The flash format (NVG) is the new king and a $40-50 USD price tag would be fair enough. The NVG game card will actually allow for re-writeability for 5% of a 2GB and 10% of a 4GB.

Many people would see the value on the NVG card once patches for glitches download automatically and album saves could be stored right on the card but, the DD (digital distribution) copy of a game would more than likely need to be cheaper (than the physical copy) and/or be on discount every now and again within the PS Store.

There should also be some very appealing deals on PSP/NVG games for those who have purchased PSN+ membership. 50% off, free full trials, and other features also on the PS3.

obviously it's a balancing act so they can profit and make the consumer happy but their best bet is to market it as a slightly cheaper ipad killer for the casuals sense they seem to have the power and is more portable.
