I know for a fact that Kojima loves his cutscenes, storytelling, and sensory based gameplay concepts, so my guess is that he's both amazed and depressed with how well team bondi's motion capture technology worked in LA Noire.

--------5134d ago (Edited 5134d ago )

He's obviously in a rut, it happens to the best of us. He's far from done yet, every time I see the guys name I get excited about what he might reveal next.

Giant_Chibi5134d ago

That may be true, but he hasn't actually played the game yet to really formulate an opinion on the tech. He did get a free copy from rockstar, but he's holding out for the japanese version in july.

Unknown_SNAKE5134d ago (Edited 5134d ago )

why this has to be something related to LA Noir ... why not related to the SONY's confirmation of PSP remastered titles to HD for PS3 maybe he intended to make an improved version of Peace walker to PS3/NGP which now is meaningless

gaffyh5134d ago

First thing I thought was the PSP remaster titles.

HappyGaming5133d ago

I dont trust that he is really upset... every year he finds an even more weird way to inroduce his new games...

Remember the rising teasers in E3 2009 with all the weird taboo masks and the fruit cutting website in E3 2010?

What if what he said was just the main plot of a game where the character finds out a secret about the world that makes his research useless?

I hope I am right because I love his game :P

afterMoth5133d ago (Edited 5133d ago )

I hope he didn't can a Z.O.E. game in favor of another MGS spin off. That would be a travesty.

LOL at the people who think he's upset with LA Noire. Talented people typically don't get depressed from other games, they take games like Uncharted and become inspired by them.

Come on, better got nothing to do with the remastered PSP games, if so, he better contact Sony asap, the man is a genius and a perfectionist, he can deliver more awesome stuff if he wants to...

fei-hung5133d ago

Maybe you are right. He could be disappointed with it or maybe he is upset cuz he spent all that time looking fora solution when he could have just asked Team Bondi.

Either way, I hope it is to do with a new Snatcher game where you have to use facial emotions when investigating the case and speaking to informants.

kyl2775134d ago

@ikkokucrisis

That's ridiculous. This isn't about LA Noire.

Giant_Chibi5134d ago

It's potentially related because kojima has been tweeting about l.a. noire and praising it's facial recognition technology. Rockstar even gave him a free copy of the game. I could only imagine what's going through Kojima's head, he must be thinking about how a sequel to snatcher or policenauts would greatly benefit from this new tech and yet it isn't available to him.

thrasherv35133d ago

@kyl277 Then tell us, what IS this about?

soundslike5133d ago

His pride is obviously hurt by something. Pride is ridiculous, therefore its not far-fetched for this to be about LA Noire and is really just melodrama

"omg my game won't be 99.9999% perfect! only 99.9998%!"

Its ok Kojima, we'll still love it.

I think he is talking about the 3DS.

pain777pas5133d ago

Their might be some truth to this. For some reason I think that the only thing that he could have spent a year on is the port of MGS3 to the 3DS. How it is meaningless? I don't know but we'll have to wait till E3. Maybe he doesn't like how things have gone with the port or this is a serious project that he has been working on that he wants to scrap but the publisher wants to show and he is not confident in his work. Either way judging by the new Castlevania we know that he can make anything pretty cool.

Graphics5133d ago

I bet he was doing peace walker for ps3 using mgs4 engine a full fledged ps3 game, but since Sony announced that dumb psp to ps3 thing I bet Konomi said to throw that project away and to just port the psp version to spend no money.

AlienLion5133d ago

I think he was chatting up a chick for a year online and then when he was about to finally get laid she ended up being a dude? Can we get an official confirmation on that?

mantisimo5133d ago

@ Alienlion, Poor Hideo that happened to me once. 0_o

Lol thanks for the laugh.

ChrisW5133d ago (Edited 5133d ago )

Yeah, it was probably Haruna Ai that he was chatting with.

I think he is talking about how he was supposed to put trophies in MGS4 but then he figured that he couldnt because everyone already beat it.

The biggest problem being a perfectionist is that everything has to be perfect. sad thing is that what he worked at might look like crap to him but to us it would be an amazing, we would wonder why he said hes work is now meaningless

NewZealander5134d ago

i hate the way this guy always has to be so dramatic about everything.

TOO PAWNED5134d ago

True. But he is very passionate about his work, if he wasn't like that he would be this successful. But I agree sometimes is just ridiculous

NewZealander5134d ago

i agree the guy has some serious talent, unfortunately i think some devs like to think the recognition makes them like rock star gods or something, cliffy b and itagaki im looking at you too.

Death5133d ago

It's much less ego and much more marketing. A dev can put on a suit and make an official announcement which would be lost within minutes or they can tweet something from their bathroom that has a remote chance of being blown out of proportion which would give exposure which lasts for days or weeks. Which would you do?

I Owe You An Apology, Hideo Kojima, I Wasn't Familiar With Your Game

Hideo Kojima and PlayStation go together like hobbits and breakfasts. That is to say, they're meant to be together, but they're also happy to serve up a PC port or afternoon tea if the time is right. Kojima's long-time collaboration with Sony means it always feels odd to see his name next to an Xbox logo, like Master Chief appearing on your PS5 or glimpsing your teacher in the big Tesco doing her weekly shop.

yawn. ^ All of this opinion piece sounds like someone’s recount when they get out of the norm and go on a hiking vacation and boast about their “life changing moments” over things extremely common and accessible to everyone. Get a rocket ship and take some selfies already. jezzus .

lelo2play has always been full of it, and one of the long lasting trolls here... this is another example of his BS comments.

1nsomniac24d ago

100% the guy is the absolute king of his own bullshit. Kojima and his fans baffle me with how brazen they are with it!

Pyrofire9524d ago

Have you ever cared about something?

__SteakDeck__24d ago

@MrNinosan Obscure has always been full of it and is another troll.

TheEroica24d ago

Kojima is as dumb as a stack of bricks. 🤷 His lust over gamers hating his games is just silly. He's a lousy story teller and he should stick to making games built around compelling gameplay.... The moment a cutscene starts my eyes auto roll.

Z50124d ago

Couldn't even imagine rolling my eyes since 1998

P_Bomb24d ago

Dumb as a stack of bricks? Funny, some comments have the same effect on me. Instant eye roll.🙄

jznrpg25d ago

I’m replaying the first game it’s great. It’s not for everyone no doubt. There are still a lot of people playing it.

anast24d ago

It's a really good game. Heartman is my favorite character.

SlothLordPootus24d ago

I'm playing through it for my first time, enjoying parts of it, and other parts not so much. It's definitely a Kojima ass game in all the good and bad ways. Honestly the combat/stealth sucks ass in it tho, which is really the worst part for me, which is a bit inconceivable given MGS V.

Knushwood Butt24d ago

Exactly. The combat and stealth suck and are just shoehorned in to deliver a layer of challenge.
Hold your breath when going through the same BT areas EVERY time.
Nonsense about weather forecasts when it ALWAYS rains in certain areas no matter what.
Tedious Cliff fights.
Dumb BT fights that you can 100% walk (wade) away from without the enemies attacking you.
Broken lore about dead bodies.
The list is long.
Having said that, I've platinumed both versions from scratch.

-Foxtrot25d ago

Then why do a sequel straight away?

Why not something else like maybe a horror game similar to Silent Hills but rebranded into a new IP.

To be honest, he is in a great situation if he doesn't have to make a mass market product. Means he can make what he wants. I think that's great.
