The premise of Flowerz is simple; match three flowerz (by colour, ie three blue) and ensure you don’t accidently fill the board with redundant flowerz. The game is somewhat like Tic Tac Toe, but with flowerz, and no toez.
2010 has been the year of innovation when it comes to mobile gaming. With the introduction of the iOS4 and Androids ‘Gingerbread’ release, the competition is heating up on who will not only be crowned the king of Smartphones, but who has the best platform for gaming on the move.
Essentially a launch title for Windows Phone 7, Carbonated Games’ Flowerz is a tidy puzzle game offered for free to early adopters. Unlikely to topple Tetris (which is also available on Windows Phone 7) as the greatest use of a puzzle game as launch title though it may be, Flowerz is nonetheless an intriguingly open title. And as is generally the way with puzzle games, that openness is essential to captivate players, and introduce them to the more complicated mechanics as part of a cleverly orchestrated path to addiction.
