L.A Noire review average hits 90% on Metacritic

CVG: In our L.A Noire review we said that the crime thriller from Team Bondi and Rockstar was a must buy for anyone who longed for a bit of class among the typical gun-heavy blockbusters.

We stamped it with an 8.9 score, and it seems we weren't too far from the general consensus since L.A Noire is now averaging at a very impressive 90 percent on Metacritic.

I pay more attention to the user scores though of actual gamers so La noire is an 8.1 game i guess not bad but not goty..

6 reviews for the witcher 2 means nothing because its not including an 88 and an 84 thats already been reviewed with it from major publications.

The only time aggregate reviews mean anything is when literally every review counts

OOT had a 99 metacritic average with 20 reviews
And a 97.8 meta criti with 50+ reviews

Ah yes let's put the scores of those who receive gift baskets, pre launch event parties, and advertisement revenue from publishers in front of the actual consumers.

Then pretend like the customers scores don't matter.

Cd projekt didn't send out gift baskets, have a pre launch party, or even send reviewers an early copy. They had to start the same day as everyone else alongside everyone else. Read igns preview it clearly bothered the dude that he wasn't treated like royalty.

I'd bet that 90% of user reviews are either:

-1s and 10s (nothing inbetween)
-From people who haven't even played the game
-From people who don't own the console the game is on
-From fanboys
-Bullshit

Put all these stupid conspiracies aside. Professional reviews are the ones to go by. Enough crap about reviewers being paid off. There's more than just a score there! Read the text of the review and if it isn't true or it doesn't justify the score, then there's a problem. GTA IV absolutely deserves its 98 because it is a masterpiece. Take all the perfect 10 reviews, read the text, and I'll be damned if those scores aren't justified.

yeah a metascore from nobody reviewers so far!!

its alot easier for RPG's to get a great scores than a point and click adventure style game like this, which has a 90/91 metascore, Heavy Rain was also amazing (with similiar point and click style gameplay) and that only got 87!

and it wasnt just the faces used to promote LA Noire but the investigation gameplay, the original (for a game) period L.A. setting and the dark serial killer storyline

what have they showed to promote The Witcher 2?..........oh yeah!.....boobs

I very much like my fantasy RPG's and will pick up TW2 after I completed LA Noire but sometimes PC fanboys should be seen and not heard

Portal 2 has a metacritc rating of 95. User score average is 8.3

Bioshock has a metacritc score of 96. User score average is a 8.0

Red Dead Redemption has a metacritic of 95. User score is 8.3

Seriously user score means NOTHING. Seriously people hand out 1's because they feel like it, while other people give out 10's from playing just the 1st 20 minutes. It's a joke.

If you want to REALLY know what game to play then simply read the reviews and really digest what they're saying (the pro's and cons), and then read some (reasonable, not some flame reviews, or idiotic reviews) user reviews and see there thoughts on the game.

That's the most fairest way. What you described is just idiotic at the highest degree.

Yup. I would best describe it as a Open World Heavy Rain with elements of Phoenix Wright.

People who thinks this is just a reskinned GTA or RDR but just in the 40's will probably hate the game in the 1st 5 minutes.

The Witcher aint better than LA noire, its good but it another generic PC fanatsy RPG with lots of redundant gameplay and dungeon crawling in it

of course you guy will talk it up like you do crysis, which I picked up for £2.50 from a steam sale (obviously cauae they are exlusives) but they are both very good but it gets the hyperbole trated casue it an exlcusive which PC-only gamers are getting less and less these days

talk about shooting yourself in the foot by sticking to one system

Its really wonderful watching these high risk genre games score high on Metacritic average.
I truly love Heavy Rain for its innovation and genre defining gameplay which totally was an eye opener for the game devs since it became a success with a great Metacritic score.
I appreciate Rockstar for taken the risk and producing such a stellar game as this gen is almost completely getting dominated by generic FPSes.
Kudos to Team Bondi.
