Details of SNEE & SCEE’s Identity Theft Protection Programme

Last week we informed you that we would be liaising with providers of identity theft protection plans following the malicious attack on PlayStation Network throughout our region. We are now in a position to provide you with actual details of the programme for current PlayStation Network and Qriocity consumers in UK, France, Spain, Italy and Germany.

"That said, we are pleased to advise that Affinion International Limited, a leader in identity protection products in Europe, will be offering a comprehensive service that covers a significant proportion of PSN users free of charge for the first 12 months."

Only for the first 12 months?

Christopher4739d ago (Edited 4739d ago )

Only?

Why should Sony pay for it to be covered when it could have come from any other source? Note, this is covering all identity theft, not just those that could have happened from Sony's leak, which in the first place doesn't contain pertinent info for someone to steal your identity.

Also, if an instance of your identity being stolen happens in the first 12 months, all elements from that single theft are covered. Going beyond 12 months would be to act as insurance against any new thefts of your identity.

wtf, who complains that is only a year, people these days! My goodness!

@Edit at GODSHAND

yeeah man, but you would figure that a year would be WAY more than enough time to change your canel those credit cards, so if you ask me a year as more than whats needed because that should have been done as soon as they heard about it.

sony is covering everyone for a year because they are only responsible for the immediate results, if a person is stupid enough to not cancel their card then thats what happens, sloth and greed is a sin people need to check themselves. (not directing at you)

and yeah atleast sony is doing this, im actually amazed they are.

GodsHand4739d ago

I can see people complaining, it's not like the information that was stolen will expire after a year, that information is gone for life, and who knows what some people would do with it.

I myself, am just happy that at least sony is taking some precautions on the matter, as to minimize future claims against sony, and government enitites.

LOGICWINS4739d ago

Ummm...because consumers might NOW have to pay for a NEW service all of a sudden. Is it mandatory? Is it optional? Are PSN users paying for it AFTER the 12 months are up? We don't know.

My guess is, people who got a 3 year warranty for their Xbox's.

Mind you, that was from a 90 day warranty which went to one year and *then* to three for a problem which both MS and its supporters insisted was never that big.

Or that it only applied to RRoD and no other possible issues.

TheFreak4739d ago

I find it weird that they are giving some costumers more than others.

Parts of Europe are now covered. I just wonder if the program will save anyone.

Corrwin4739d ago

The addition of Little Big Planet and Ratchet and Clank are baffling as they were free game incentives for PSN+

If you're a plus subscriber, there's a good chance you already have one of them, so it's odd they didn't choose two games that haven't been offered yet.

Games That Were Bad on Release, But Are Now Great

BLG writes, "Some of the most popular games have had a rough start, with some of them being downright unplayable.

Despite that, developers have managed to turn it around for them and make their game worth playing. Here are some games that had a rough start but were pretty great."

Good list..hoped to see Street Fighter 5 there..and it is.

Sea of Thieves... I'm not disagreeing that the game has improved in terms of content. But I feel that the most significant change between now and its release is actually the public perception. Nowadays, most people are aware that the game is a multiplayer PvP-focused experience first and foremost, and not "Black Flag made by Rare". Consequently, people dismissing the whole experience because the single-player aspect is lacking or the story is plain are much less common.

Several years ago, i submitted an idea to Rare that would change up the mechanics of battling opponents in the game. whereby if you died in battle, you turned into a skeleton warrior and had to fight your way back to the land of the living. It was an interesting twist on respawning and would allow the player to experience both sides of a battle.

I keep hoping to see something like that get added to the game.

They consider FO 76 & ME Andromeda to be great now 🤭

Every game in the last 2 decades...

INMATEofARKHAM3d ago

It's sad that this quick retort is more often than not true... The industry's acceptance of release and patch has gone too far.

gunnerforlife2d ago

Days gone! By the end of the game I couldn't drop it down! I went around so many hours killing zombies! It was addictive by the end.

S2Killinit2d ago

That game was just plain good game. It didnt improve, it was just good.

gunnerforlife2d ago

I don't know, I got it abit late, and struggled for a few days, and then all of a sudden it just got good!!
