Co-president of Naughty Dog, Cristophe Balestra talks about Uncharted Games
Bungie warns Naughty Dog on live service, before crumpling due to live service.
Probably the only good thing to come from the Bungie buyout, ND should stick to what they know best, SP masterpieces.
Well it's the truth live service games can be a flavor of the month, not even be a blip on the radar, could be a very popular game, a pile of shit, revenue generating, or lose your shirt, or my favorite lock everything behind a pay wall. The market is just so over saturated with these type of games. Least Bungie had one piece of solid advice.
It's good they dropped factions. People make it sound like it was this huge hit , but in reality it was a Cinderella story for a relatively few that play it and to recapture that would be almost impossible
Following a recent interview with Sony, Naughty Dog head Neil Druckmann claims the original intent was “unfortunately lost” in the process.
Glad he clarified it but i'm still somewhat skeptical. Plus, his comments about how Ai will revolutionize storytelling were still pretty iffy.
Druckmann claims the tech could 'push the boundaries of storytelling in games.'
I’m more interested in what else he said.
“Neil Druckmann says new Naughty Dog title could ‘redefine mainstream perceptions of gaming’
He also said it has "ethical issues we need to address" but of course that doesn't get the clicks.
I’m all for it. Cuts the time to make a game. Look, Hellblade 2 took 5 years to make, if AI can do that in half the time, as a consumer, I support it.
GOTY 2011!!!
if i don't speak french then is this video of any use to me?
I'm a native french speaker and I've watched the entire video. It's nothing special really (but as it's UC3, it's necessarily awesome).
Just for your information, the host is Julien Chièze, a journalist from Gameblog. And in case you do not know, the guest is Christophe Ballestra, co-president of Naughty Dog (and a frenchman). They wanted to show true gameplay but had a technical problem (not the right debug PS3... lame) so they only showed the videos we already know. The "chateau" actually takes place in France, so it seems Drake will travel through Europe (they also state he will go to UK).
Christophe talks about the details (for example the animation and particles associated to the fire) that make things believable.
They also talk about the difficulties of directing such a game (actors direction) and the focus on multiplayer (so it will reach the level of the solo campaign).
Let's note that the game is now in Alpha, so it is entirely playable but the production is far from finished :-)
