UltimateGameGorilla: MMOs On Consoles
Olivier of UltimateGameGorilla writes: The massively multiplayer online genre has thrived on the PC. Sadly, the MMO genre has not been able to successfully reach consoles. Why is that? The answer is the fact that when a developer develops an MMO game for a console it usually is a port from the PC version. If a developer is creating an MMO simultaneously for the PC and for the consoles the PC is their primary goal. The reason this is an issue is that when the game is being created, the design choices will be made with the computer and the keyboard in mind therefore some of the design choices might not be right for the console and the controller. For an MMO to be successful on consoles, it must be developed from the start with consoles in mind.
