Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford has condemned the "cyber-terrorists" responsible for bringing down the PlayStation Network, calling on gamers to support not attack Sony as it works to restore services.
I agree with the article. Feels like hackers are attacking the gaming industry as a whole now with their recent hacking of official video game sites (Eidos) and threats to game developers.
'Three cheers for randy whey' Its like some one shooting your mom whil she was out shopping, and as a result your lft outside the house waiting for her to come back just like the mother in this analogy sony are victims of an attack SONY ALL DAY EVERYDAY
Horrible analogy. It's nothing like that..
Looool! Are you serious? Shooting moms while they shop is the same as hacking PSN? Ha ha ha ha. Please do not edit your comment, it is pure EPIC. Ha ha ha
Surprised people understood what this guy just said. On topic, People just need to be patient with this. PSN will be back and it will be more secure than ever. That alone is worth the wait. Yes it would be nice to have new features. But I don't even care anymore. I just want to play my games online.
That's the most stupid analogy I've ever heard. @dangert12 Wait,so is the mum coming back? Was she fatally wounded or was it just a flesh wound? I'm strangely intrigued, the analogy is still desperately bad, but I'm interested in the mothers condition. And btw, it's 'moral' not 'morale'.
nope just the fact sony is a victim like the mom was the victim morale of the story
Randy is right, we need to band together and shun hackers. Hackers aren't in it for you, they're in it for themselves.
lol yea we got that. You meant that the bank you usually do your banking at was breached, therefore the bank closed to keep your information safe but can't guarantee that your information was not stolen. So now you have to wait till the bank is ready to open again.
So says the Sheeple, and the "Secret Trolls"(work for N4G,yes, i see you, lol) ) who mark disagree or agree without an ACTUAL REPLY, lol
this is exactly what i have been saying since it went down, these people should be referred to cyber terrorists and people should be upset at them not the victims sony and users. Heck even the users who are victims are blaming the other victim its just dumb to do that. Much respect to Randy Pitchford for being one of the only industry people getting it right !
Randy talks so much sense, he's one of the few developers who actually smiles and has a positive attitude towards his own games too. All other devs are too serious.
I have said it before and i will say it again, Randy is a freakin' legend!
Indeed, he is right.
mermaid man and barnacle boy unite!
Holy crap. You mean he's actually FOR the victim? What a twist.
Evil doesnt to be spelled "evil" ... just spell it as plainly as it actually is and the situation warrants
Actually, evil is spelled: A-N-O-N-Y-M-O-U-S
I don't like the way Sony's handled this. Many times during this ordeal I've been tempted to trade in my PS3 for a 360. But then I thought, "Isn't that exactly what these hackers wanted me to do?" That's about the only thing that's kept me from forsaking Sony in this whole ordeal.
Yay, I think that's my first mass of disagrees!!! I'd like to thank my parents, for teaching me to not be afraid to voice my opinions, no matter how against the status quo they are!
Your over-analysing way too much. Either sell your console or don't - nobody cares especially the hackers.
Maybe you're right. I do tend to overanalyze things. But I'd rather overanalyze than underanalyze. Anyhow, I'm not really going to sell my PS3. I'm just kind of upset at Sony for not being able to play MP for the past few weeks, especially considering I lent out all my singleplayer games recently to friends who refuse to give them back.
One of the few respected developers out there..
Sheeple Alert: The Evil is NOT the Hackers, the Evil is the People who created an Enviroment were people resort to hacking. But since your to SCARED to point the Finger at the Rich and Powerful that CONTROL and CREATE policy, You naturally resort to blaming the less fortunate among you, do to Ignorance and a willingness to believe what you've been told lol. A wise man once said "If a LIE is told Loud Enough and Long Enough, the People (SHEEPLE) will Believe it.
.............ROFLMFAO!!! XD XD XD
and the SHEEPLE go: BAaaaaH!!! BAaaaaaH!! lol, dont care if you dont really understand what's going on, they thought Noah was crazy too, lol, Bottom feeders(SHEEPLE/the Unaware/Blind/Fearful) love company, but its always lonely(very few in the knowing/or Knowledge of) at the top, oh well.
Without policy, without leadership, without control, everything will fall. What this world needs is a good kick in the pants. It's a bunch of little children making child-like decisions. Hackers have their own policy and control too. I point my finger at them.
Guess that is why you have so much caps
Capitalizing every Other word Doesn't make Sense.
That's just as bad as the "but the videogames made me kill him" excuse people use. You're in control of whatever you do, don't blame others.
So let me get this straight. You believe that the situation FORCED the hackers to do what they did? The industry FORCED them to cause PSN to be shut down causing strife for millions of customers, developers and employees? NO ONE forced them to do anything. If Sony said 'no hacking please' all they had to do is move on. The PS3 did not HAVE to be hacked. The hackers did it for their ego and nothing else. They were determined to do it because Sony said no. They even reached a point where they were believing their own lies and forgot who they were fighting for as the PSN outage proves. They are evil all right. Uncaring losers who would ruin people's livelyhood for video games.
"Uncaring losers who would ruin people's livelyhood for video games." Well they attacked a video game service so I do not think they are doing it for "video games".
Damn, do you actually believe the crap you just wrote?
corporation doesnt make policy our government makes policy, hold your representatives responsible for what they do, not corporation. if youre resorting to hacking, at least attack the right people. hack into our government peoples files, if theres corruption find that information and share it with everyone instead of finding my personal information and sharing it with the rest of the world
Simple, make Hacking a instant felony crime with 5 years on first offense and 15 years on the second.
Something like this is gonna happen soon Homeland Security along with congress and obama administration are talking about how to deal with hackers. They think their strong now but when governments step in they will be nothing.
How long before randy gets hacked?
These hackers are straight up thieves... I hope the FBI and Homeland security grabs them soon.
The act of hacking is wrong when the outcome harms millions of PS3 gamers out there... this is fact..
The only reason 'we' (the media that tells us whats going on) are all blaming it on Sony is because of the smear campaign against Sony, probably coming from Microsoft. These 'stories' are fed to bloggers and sites who then sell them to the media sites as news - then the major sites are looking for stories so they post them as well. When you spend enough time on N4g you start to see the big picture.
Just do a good job with Duke on the PS3 and i will be happy
Hacking aint what it use to be thats for sure!!! Way back from the late seventies to early ninties it was all about pushing hardware to to extreme limit, making a computer talk back to u, and generally fart-arse around doing the classic phone hacking trick. Sadly though we live in a time where tech is so far advanced that total f***ing tosser can bring half the gaming world down at the press of the button! The Hackers of old are spinning in their digital graves right now :( Hope whoever did this crime is caught and brought to justice and that everyone tries to take in to account that all of us including sony are the victims.
