White PS3 Coming To America?

This Rumor Reporter posting refers to the initial Engadget report about the CECHH01 PS3 model that landed at the FCC. The model number was noted to being very similar to the 40 GB CECHH00 model in Japan. The Engadget article suggested that the model couldn't be all too different.

From Rumor Reporter:

"Now, all of you are wondering how I came up with a white PS3 coming to the US. First of all, check out that label on the Engadget label...it's white. Now that's a huge hint. Furthermore, the white PS3 in Japan is CECHH00. This is CECHH01. Can it be? A new white 40 GB PS3 coming to the United States? Count on it."

Place this one under the extreme rumor file at the moment.

All those fools crying about backwards compatibility? Who cares...All i want for my second PS3 is bluray, and PS3 games...I could care less about PS2 games. I play a few on my 60 GB but why would anyone want to play an old PS2 game after MGS4, COD4, Killzone 2, Warhawk, Little big planet, God of War 3 and Final Fantasy 13?

I will play some Manhunt 2...though...hopefully they will make Manhunt 3 on the PS3!

good move if true, it makes it that more tempting to pick up one, and it will stand out cause it just looks different, the standerd for most consoles were black and having white in the mix makes it a little better, of course Red and Blue and some other funky ones would be nice to stand out.

Since Backward compatibility is cut
the only different among all 40gb PS3 in the world would be ...PAL/NTSC if you run it on a stardard TV (which i don't see anyone would...) or play DVD with it... (it might happen, but highly not likely), Games and blu ray movies are all REGION FREE

Try find a friend of some sort in hongkong and get it there, it is only $345 and you don't even need to pay tax for it =)

lol!!! and Kuest ... you're funny dude. that white PS3 looks tempting if they do bring it to the states it should have plenty to do with sales because nintendo seems to be doing good with color variants to it's hardware. and that always goes over well. it's also a smart business move for the market. different colors attract. and the mundane colors does little to encourage... i mean look... you go into a store and you see a choice of red blue green and white in addition to the normal black color from the IPod at 30 gigs you'd quickly buy one of the new colors. it's just a shame they dont add new colors for the 30 and 80 gig Ipods they'd explode in sales even more so than the initial colors do....

with that said a 40gig ps3 with the already attractive price of $399 and the spider man inclusion with the new color. new adopters who's always wanted to get a PS3 but because of price who walk right into a best buy or Gamestop and see a White PS3 it would be a sure buy for the system. colors just magnetize it's coustomers so if sony's marketing team is Smart they'd better think about color configurations and just start plunking them down an Ipod white or asexy silver color would help to sell it even better and make it that much more attractive.
