By now, we know that we will have the Back To Karkand Map Pack which will include Gulf of Oman, Sharqi Peninsula, Strike at Karkand, and Wake Island. Then there will also possibly be a map in Paris, New York, Tehran, and the Iraq/Iran border.
A recent post on the Battlefield Blog, brought out the new Strike at Karkand map and its new look, keep in mind, that it is just Concept Art. The site shows a comparison of graphics of the old Strike at Karkand map to the new Strike at Karkand in Battlefield 3 and has a poll to vote on

Get rid of campaigns, move the game to mobile, and try to compete with warzone. They would save time and money.
Whether it comes through remakes or a new game with a similar style, DICE should aim to revive the glory days of Battlefield 3 and Bad Company 2.
hmmm I think there will be no old BF glory days for EA since they are loyal to their greediness and laziness :D
You're asking for a miracle with EA that will never happen unless they can exploit the money making schemes behind it.

Man that was one of my favourite maps when I used to play BF2. Can't wait for BF3. :D
With the PS3 down I've gone back to playing a few PC games and while BC2 was ok playing BF2 has been fantastic. The combination of more flag points, more vehicles and open map style makes for such entertaining maps.
I really hope Battlefield 3 can create some new maps that are just as rememberable as the ones in Battlefield 2 that we are getting in the Back to Karkand Map Pack. Knowing DICE, we will get this wish. I really cannot wait for this game.
