I might be being pedantic but I thought the plural of Dwarf is Dwarves? Or am I wrong.....

You are absolutely correct. Not sure why they went with "Dwarfs!?" - probably to reflect the tongue-in-cheek nature of a game that has you marching off your ale-laden allies to slaughter by the dozen. They're "derp dwarves" and hence the name reflects this.
