"Nearly twenty years old, the Need for Speed franchise is experienced and well established and, despite a few bumps along the way, still going strong. Towards the end of last year, Criterion injected a new life into the franchise with Hot Pursuit. Their new take on the hugely successful series provided one of the best arcade racers in recent times and, with new features such as the incredibly addictive Autolog, it changed racing games forever. Several months later and we see Slightly Mad Studios go in the other direction completely to continue with the sim-esque style of ProStreet and Shift spawning Shift 2: Unleashed."
