Digital Spy writes: "Like so many classic arcade games that gobbled up an entire generation's loose change, Bubble Bobble's core gameplay is simple, easy to grasp but wholly unique. As Bub or Bob, two boy-turned-dragons on a journey to rescue their girlfriends, they must clear single-screen stages of enemies by spitting out bubbles. Their main function was to capture creatures inside them, stopping the critters in their tracks and leaving them open to bursting with a well-positioned jump. Once the screen was cleared of enemies, the duo were whisked off to the next stage, complete with a new layout with cleverly positioned placed platforms that often give enemies the upper hand."
70 years and still going strong. And with some amazing games, too.
"Taito's Bubble Bobble series started out in 1986 and remains popular to this day. Bubble Bobble 4 didn't get the world on first, but there will be plenty more adventures for Bub and Bob in the future, including the upcoming Puzzle Bobble Everybubble. Merchandise for this series doesn't come to international markets very often, but Strictly Limited Games currently has a bundle of Bub and Bob plushies available to order," says Co-Optimus.
Taito has revealed that it is working on a new Bubble Bobble game to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the series. However, details are extremely sparse.
And all my childhood memories come flooding back. I don't know if I should be excited or terrified for this. LOL.
I own Bubble Bobble on NES, SMS, and Genesis I'd say its one of my favorites the music all though repetitive was great.
