After talking to Gameloft's Digital Marketing and Community Manager, Callum Rowley on the day of the Xperia PLAY's European launch, we caught up with the publisher's Managing Director, Julian Stocker to find out not only how successful the company has been with the platform, but about the importance of developing for "the next big thing", and why traditional publishers have been so slow to adapt to digital distribution.
Auto Defense, a real castle battle strategy game by Gameloft, is globally available to download and play on Android and iOS devices.
Culture of Gaming set down with Gameloft at E3 2019 where we got to preview some of their upcoming games in the mobile field.
Neil writes: "Since the turn of the millennium, Gameloft have established themselves as one of the very top innovators in their field, creating games for various platforms. With the mobile scene being their bread and butter, you would have been able to enjoy a whole host of their titles on your iOS or Android device. Now though they are partnering up with Microsoft to see the Xbox Live service roll out across the mobile gaming landscape."
Major move by Microsoft here. Already enjoying these games with Xbox Achievements/Live, through Windows 10 on my Surface Go, but now that they are bringing them to iOS and Android, even more people will be able to experience Xbox Live no matter where they are. More of this.
Gameloft make the worst mobile games They make crappy copies of more popular games . Good fit for MS I guess
It's gonna be interesting. I just hope Sony doesn't end up competing against itself once the NGP is released. Nice interview.
Buttons! Gotta have buttons. I can't stand games on iPhone, I always gotta look where I'm touching, and the touch doesn't always register. When I feel that soft click, I know my guy is gonna jump, shoot, or whatever else he's supposed to do, unless the game itself sucks. Plus, a standard set like that makes it much easier to transition from game to game without relearning a layout for where to put your hands.
That's sick, I can't believe they said all that.
Too bad the Xperia is so expensive in the UK... like everything else in this country.
I wonder how successful GameLoft would be if they had to come up with an ORIGINAL game idea from time to time?
