Did HTC Windows Phone 7 Update Decrease Display Bit Depth?

There are a lot of persons that are asking themselves what exactly accomplished the new HTC Windows Phone 7 update, and the answer is not looking so pretty. Apparently, as some owners of HTC smartphones have reported that they appear to now be using a lower bit depth for their graphics.
