P2C Homefront review

The year is 2027 and the good ole USA is in the shitter. Those crazy North Koreans have just gone and invaded the land of Uncle Sam, cheese burgers and giant foam hands. The bastards!

"Call of Duty if a evolution of a set game design over numerous iterations. It has become the refined and polished behemoth because of this"

no... it has gone completely downhill since 4 and 2 was the best. I would say that is the opposite.

But anyway yeah. Homefront was supposed to be something special but it turned out to be a bad attempt to copy CoD.

The storytelling and originality of COD has gone downhill surely, but it is easy to forget that it is a polished game. Things work the way they're supposed to and the game mechanics are apparently still infectious, as evidenced by the ridiculous sales numbers. More importantly, the gameplay hours continue to rack up.

Faulting COD is the cool thing to do these days, as it's gotten rather Madden-esque. But playing a game like Homefront... all it really did was remind us that COD really is actually pretty well put-together.

indeed, I liked the cinematic presentation of CoD. But games like Half life, Halo and even Timesplitters 3 have far superior presentation of the story/scene/bleh.

For me the Mass Effect is unrivalled int he story telling department.

buckley5194d ago

While it's a great story and one of my favorite franchises right now, Mass Effect is an RPG, not an FPS. Apples and Oranges.

And if we're going inter-genre, Mass Effect's storytelling is definitely rivaled by countless adventure games.

Well if we are sticking to FPS games then the best story in my opinion would have to goto Operation Flashpoint : Resistance. One of the few times I cared about the lead character in a game.
