3DS is probably the new king until ngp launch, but not really "killing" the 6 years old psp (graphics, etc)...

I'm sorry to say that the 3DS has destroyed the PSP before it even came out! The PSP was all like BOOM when the 3DS was announced!

Neither of them of going to die or get "killed" both are doing extremely healthy in Japan and PSP actually got 2 good exclusives.

Remember just because one system comes out the previous or competing model doesn't have to or will die. If it did I would be disappointed

And yes the 3ds didnt "sellout" you know why? its because nintendo has handled this launch better than any other launch ever. sellouts mean lost revenue. Nintendo wanted to avoid that

I thought the regular DS was the PSP killer? I mean 3 to 1 in sales and a much better library of games. 3DS just broke all records here in the states for sales. I'm sure it'll be fine, I know I'm enjoying it. Cant wait to get OOT though.

Look at the disagrees this guy got. 3DS fans are apparently upset at how close the specs of the 3DS are to the PSP? Nintendo did that on purpose, folks, so they could leverage current in-development titles and teams (working on PSP titles) to make 3DS games ASAP.

3rd party publishers like to make money. They see two similar platforms, they make crossplats. No amount of disagrees can change that, and there is *nothing* wrong with Nintendo making a smart,3rd-party-friendly business move like that.

Why on earth supposed Nintendo fans would believe that Nintendo's new handheld should suffer the same 3rd-party issues the Wii had, are beyond me. Crossplats are good.

The NGP and the 3DS will both do good. Each one will cater to different markets so everyone in the end should be happy.

It is a pretty damn solid piece of gaming machinery existing on the backs of the most successful Handheld gaming consoles ever made. It's likely that if sony enters the market with the same tactics they always use of filling the device with expensive proprietary tech and selling it for prices above 300 bucks. Yeah, the NGP could be the swan song of sony handhelds. Even if it is more powerful, we still have to contend with a previous generation of the competing machines as an example why it could likely fail.

Not as bad as the go, but likely bad enough so sony could throw in the towel. Between nintendo owning specialised portable gaming and apple and google owning the functional aspects of portable gaming devices... Snoy might not find the audience they need for such ambitious tech.

psp sold 60 million. I think there is enough demand out there for a hardcore handheld audience.

And lets face it, people these days just love hot new tech especially in the case of graphics.

Some would hope. But graphics don't matter if there are no games. Right now we know of 20-30 titles coming to 3ds. While we only know of 2 or 3 for ngp. Also, that 60 mill worldwide number is suddenly dwarfed when you realize ds has sold 145 million worldwide. It has outsold psp 2 to 1 even in japan. at half the power and 50 bucks less.

NGP's only chance is to sell at a lower price than 3ds. With it being sony i do not expect that, especially with that 3g coverage thing and an oled screen.

Wtf?! We know of more than 2 or 3 for the NGP, did you miss the announcement of it? Plus the great lineup announced for it already are just 1st party titles, tons of 3rd party games will be out for it as well.
