PS3 Global Performance Exceeds Xbox360, Wii Tops Sales but Lost Steam

New data from the research firm Strategy Analytics affirms that the Playstation 3 console now has more worldwide popularity than the XBOX 360, although the 360 is still comfortably leading in US sales by 10 million units. This disparity is made up for in sales in other parts of the world where the PS3 sells more, including Europe and Asia. As of the start of 2011, Sony's worldwide base is 43.4 million units, leading ahead of Xbox360's 42.9 million, and with the current trend, this gap will only continue to widen. The Wii remains the most widely sold of all three.
