Gameolio: Killzone 3 Review

Rob W, from Gameolio, writes:

"Since the release of the original Killzone on ps2 back in 2004, the series has constantly delivered a sci-fi first person shooter well known for its visually impressive environments, and Killzone 3, the newest installment, is no exception. Taking place on the Helghast home-world, the outstanding landscapes serve to create a harsh and alien setting to the vicious firefights that make up Killzone 3."

Personally I would give it 6/10. Unbalanced teams and poor map selection.

plb4802d ago (Edited 4802d ago )

Huh, I think MP is the best aspect of the game while SP is a bit on the short side. Only thing that disappoints me is the lack of MP maps for operations and they already stated no DLC in that regard.

thekiddfran4802d ago

Yeha epic fail in regards to operations maps!Other than that it is an amazing game!

ddurand14802d ago

also with you on the operations part. they could easily implement it into almost every map.

it is only attack/defend anyway

BeaArthur4802d ago

Don't forget about the wonderful map rotation glitch they have yet to fix.

HeavenlySnipes4802d ago

they need to get the voice actors back, make all the cutscenes, add the new plot (you have to have a reason the ISA are invading the map) and extending the map appropriately. Its not as simple as making a GW or Warzone map.

Guerrilla Games' Multiplayer Horizon Game Could Be Named "Hunters Gathering," Teases Leak

Guerrilla Games' upcoming multiplayer Horizon title could be dubbed "Hunters Gathering," according to a new leak.

Jin_Sakai153d ago (Edited 153d ago )

I wish PlayStation Studios would just stick to what they do best, making great single player games.

Outside_ofthe_Box153d ago

The core gameplay of Horizon is really good, so this is one of the few I can see working out. Also GG does have one of the greatest multiplayer games ever made in Killzone 2 under their belt so MP isn't too far off with what GG does best.

SyntheticForm153d ago

Hell, I enjoyed Shadowfall's MP thoroughly even though it had issues. Guerrilla have delivered solid multiplayer experiences.

Cacabunga152d ago

Oh boy. No idea why they don't want to work on a killzone it's a much more fun multi mode. -

__SteakDeck__152d ago

@Jin_Sakai First. As a business, you don’t just stick to what you do great. If that was the case, Apple would of just done computers and not taken a risk with iTunes and the iPhone. Also have you seen the cost of their AAA games like Spiderman 2? Sony is going to need one of these GAAS games to hit, or expect budget cuts to their SP games. We’re already seeing in the document leak, that they’re asking Insomniac to cut budgets.

Jin_Sakai152d ago

Their studios aren’t masters at GaaS and it’s showing. Naughty Dog wasted all that time and Resources just to cancel Factions and Insomniac's multiplayer Spider-Verse got axed. If Sony really wants a big GaaS hit their best bet would be to acquire EA or Epic Games. You need huge support to keep these games going with content and updates.

purple101153d ago (Edited 153d ago )

OHH GOD YES,, or at least some new shooter. finals was okay but I want more, spesh from 1st party

DaleCooper153d ago

Meh. You know what could be good? A new Killzone.

Magatsuhi153d ago

Hope it's not battle royale.

anast153d ago

It would be better than Monster Hunter, but I'm good with the Gaas stuff.

Up there with the top tier in the industry. Love Guerrilla Games - Horizon Burning Shores is simply STUNNING.

1Victor378d ago

Can’t wait for their next franchise

SullysCigar378d ago

Same. They nailed it with Horizon. The trouble is I also want a new Killzone! Can't I just have it all?!

jznrpg377d ago

I’m with you I want Horizon 3 , Killzone and new IPs

badz149377d ago

I have yet to play Burning Shores as I just started Forbidden West (bought at launch, just unwrapped last weekend LOL) and playing on PS5.

man...I still can't believe the graphics especially now I'm playing it on my LG OLED. that graphics and with stable performance backing it up, GG really is the master of their craft!

Vengeance1138378d ago

32.7M sales in the Horizon franchise! With 8.4M coming from Forbidden West alone! Truly a hugely successful game and franchise as a whole. Looking forward to Horizon III

Shane Kim378d ago

That's kind of a huge drop though. It's only been two games.

VersusDMC378d ago

One year after realease HZD sold 7.6 million.

https://www.noobfeed.com/ne...

So not a drop off.

Unless you're saying a HFW should have sold as much now as HZD sold in 5 years?

Vengeance1138378d ago

It's been 3 games, this includes Call of the Mountain. Also no, its a great improvement over HZD.

solideagle378d ago

lol you are comparing:

HZD: 28 February 2017 - May 2023 (6 years+)

HFW: 18 February 2022 - May 2023 (1 year+)

We will see if it surpass original number.

Phoenix76378d ago

@shane, 2 full main games, 2 DLC add ons, 1 VR spin off game, oh and a an official LEGO set.
Not too bad for an ip that's only been on market for 6 years

REDGUM377d ago

Wow, very impressive. I didn't know the numbers were so high for Forbidden West. Still playing through it myself

thesoftware730378d ago (Edited 378d ago )

Yooo, when I first saw that Killzone 1 footage at E3, my friends my brothers and I were like, Holy shit! When it came out, it didn't look exactly like it, but we sunk so many hours into 1 & 2.

I even liked Killzone: SF, it was a spectacle to look at, and even today it looks good. I hope they make a new one. Can you imagine how that will look, and they can get some modern FPS pointers from Bungie.

blacktiger377d ago

thank you fps lover, I'm with you

talocaca378d ago

Such a wonderful studio. They deserve all their success.

The Decima Engine is absolute 🔥 I'm just mad they have abandoned Killzone.

OzzY-waZZy378d ago (Edited 378d ago )

Kinda wish they move on from Horizon tbh.

potatoseal378d ago

They are probably working on mutiple projects. One of them is Horizon 3, but another is a multiplaer game and probably somehting else.

Imalwaysright378d ago

There were rumours that they were working on a Socom reboot.
