NPD Sales Data Withheld, Analysts Silenced
The NPD Group has been an important source for years with its monthly sales figures. This data often conveyed the monthly top 10 or 20 video games by sales in the U.S. According to Matthew Kato of Game Informer, the NPD stopped reporting sales figures for individual titles and ceased giving out hardware sales numbers late last year.
