"Harvest Moon: Magical Melody brought the Harvest Moon series back on track from its misguided veer off-course into Animal Crossing territory (the comparatively execrable It's a Wonderful Life) to its farming-RPG roots. For those unfamiliar with the basic plot, in this entry you compete against a strange looking rival named Jamie to see who can run the better farm. A little side quest comes from on high, as well, as you are asked to help free the harvest goddess by finding and returning some missing magical notes."

This was a pretty cool read. The first HM game I played was on the GameBoy, so when I got HM64 I was overwhelmed by all of the things you could do. Since I never played the original title for the SNES everything except the basic elements seemed brand new and I've been playing them ever since.
I agree that they don't seem the same since the Game Cube titles, but I think the team got a shakeup, which is why they seem a little different. Overall, I think my favorite HM title of all of them is HM64, it's simple, but it's complex enough to make you want to work harder at achieving your goals. Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town was also kind of a port of the PS1 game HM:Back to Nature, which is number two on my list.
Independent leading UK publisher Rising Star Games have today created the world’s first virtual ‘twinning’, as their Harvest Moon videogame series has been twinned with Surrey Docks Farm in London. Most twinnings usually take place between similar major cities from different parts of the world. This is the first case of a real-world place twinning with a virtual reality environment.
