Pokemon creator Satoshi Tajiri's death rumors are conflicted -- likely false

Twitter has been flooded with unconfirmed reports that the man responsible for Pokemon, Satoshi Tajiri has passed away in the tsunami that rocked northern provinces in the wake of yesterday's earthquake. While there is cause for concern, it should be noted that we're currently seeing conflicting reports, with some Japanese users tweeting that he is alive and well.

[Update #1: Maritus News is claiming Tajiri is alive and well after having merely fainted. Their story states that he resides in Tokyo, and was not a victim of the flood. That said, it's very likely the rumor is false, however it's still no confirmation. No statement has been issued by Tajiri, Gamefreak, or his loved ones as of yet. Until such time, we'll remain hopeful.]

Probably rumors started by 4chan or something. another trending topic on twatter says that the created of hello kitty died too.

I don't understand how someone can disagree with my previous comment, he isn't dead...

"It's probably safe to conclude that he's alive unless we hear word from official channels"

it's just a little rumour, twitter has different 'death' trends all the time, Justin Bieber for example.

I thought it was just a clickjacker.
Like the Charlie Sheen has died stuff.

wwm0nkey5197d ago

Well considering Nintendo said he was alive im pretty sure he isnt dead.

Wizziokid5197d ago (Edited 5197d ago )

yeah but for some reason people seem to disagree when you tell them it's false but never mind ;)

-edit-

Is anyone expecting anything less? It will be exclusive to Switch 2 eventhough it will still look like a 3DS game

Inverno37d ago

I think the 3DS games look better than anything GF released on Switch.

To be fair, The Pokemon Company operates quite independently, so it wouldn’t have been that strange for a Pokemon game coming out in just the 2nd year of the S2’s life to still be crossgen. I mean, just how long into the PS5 and SX life are we and we are still seeing plenty of crossgen stuff

gold_drake37d ago (Edited 37d ago )

not surprised.

nintendo was prepared to have some games sell the console.

im sure the game will still look like its from the ps2 era tho.

coldfire98436d ago

that is in part because of the chip shortage when everyone over reacted to sars in 2019.

Kosic37d ago (Edited 37d ago )

I've lost interest in pokemon, the mega evolve stuff was a poor digimon rip off, then the stuttering mess the 3d versions are.
I'd love a remake of gold/silver in a top down view like lets go pikachu had, but sticking with the traditional pokemon mechanics.

Uh, yea, that’s how console generations are supposed to work…
