The best alien shooting games such as Alien Shooter, Alien Breed: Impact and Shadowgrounds Survivor have revived the long-dead genre. Here's a rundown of the best top-down alien shooters.
The game has been announced years ago, changed publishers, and still not had a single image or trailer much less a title. However some movement has happened with the Prequel novel to the game. Originally set for a Fall 2020 release, the new book now has a cover image and some additional information.

It is not my parade as I have nothing invested in the creation of the game. But I think that if done well the community would like a Massive Online Aliens Shooter. AI2 is not going to happen and I have played GTFO quite a bit, fun game. But not Aliens.
I loved that game and beat it on nightmare but why did it only sell like 3 or 4 million copies?
It could be good if done right. I would think this should be easy as there is a ton of source material.
I think Planetside 2 is a good basis. Alien Infestation and you are part of a large Colonial Marine force sent in to clear it. Unsure if players get to play the Alien as well but who knows. I also think at this point they need to either jump to Next Gen and PC or at the least factor Next Gen in.
Sony wouldn't have let Daybreak go if they felt the studio was going in the right direction and supplying games that would sell.
Also, I have never seen a game taken over by another studio mid-way through development become successful.
I am dubious as to the quality this game will deliver!
They were the victim of circumstance. Fox wanted to go all in on games and took on Cold Iron. Fox was sold to Disney who do not want to be in the AAA game development and want to license out. FOXNext was sold to a Mobile Game company who clearly was not a fit for this type of game as it was console and PC. So they worked away until they found a home that would let them complete the game and release it. If they do not load it wit a subscription and microtransactions it may be ok. If they can do Cross Play and Next-Gen graphics that would help as well.
So, lemme get this straight: you know what the fans want, you've heard the outcries, and you decide to do this?
They announced the game in Jan 2019 so they have not deviated from what they original announcement was. An massive online shooter set in the Alien universe.
Right, but my point is if you're going to make an Aliens game wouldn't you kind of do your due diligence and see what people are wanting?
I think there are many Alien fans who would love a quality shooter as we have not had one since AVP2.
Alien Isolation worked so well, because it fits the alien horror theme on the other hand when you have group of marines, the real alien atmosphere disapears. Shooter will be a lot harder to make it right, after last try (colonial marines) i dont give it much chance... But if the game would be something like multiplayer only: humanVsAlienVsPredator teams asymetrical, gear/gene progression, procedural map generation - this could work for me.
A new Alien novel has been announced by Titan Books and will act as a prequel to Cold Iron Studios' upcoming untitled Alien game and gives gamers a look at what seems to be the backstory for the game.
Its odd as they sent us a press release in Jan. 2018 telling us about the game. No title, images, video, nothing. Over a year later when Alien: Blackout arrives we get a small update that this is not the Cold Iron game which will be a massive shooter. Nothing since. It was odd to me to announce a game without a title ot details and now two E3 shows and almost two years later we still have nothing. This is the first sign of progress.
