RPGamer: Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together review

One of the largest problems with reviewing ports and other updates of classic RPGs is the nostalgia factor. It's very easy to slip into praising a game based upon the feelings that it evoked when the reviewer was twelve years old. This tactic is frequently disparaged, despite having some merit.

just make it happen

Relientk775190d ago

I hope so the Ogre Battle/Tactics Ogre and Final Fantasy Tactics series are COMPLETELY amazing and pretty much flawless

PlayerX5190d ago

While I disagree with Final Fantasy Tactics, I will agree that The Ogre Battle Sage is flawless.

Relientk775190d ago

Another solid review they need to revive series like this.

Bring back Tactics Ogre!

Tex1175190d ago

That is one of the most true lines when looking back at older games.

I played FFVI, Chrono Trigger and Secret of Mana all in that sweet spot 12-15 time span.

Not only are they arguably the best games ever created, but playing that at that age?! Incredible.

The Most Underrated PS1 RPGs

When it comes to the best PlayStation 1 RPGs, we’ve all heard Final Fantasy this, Chrono Chross that. Two problems that emerge when a steady stream of blockbusters are released on a system is is that some of the very good RPGs are crowded out and some games are less great in the eyes of players who experienced the best games on the system.

Legend of Dragoon Proper Remake!
Enuf said.

Jiub1252d ago

I would rather have a Legend of Dragoon remake over all the FF7 ones tbh

bouzebbal1252d ago

Some cool games right there.. I will add threads of fate it was an excellent action RPG

RpgSama1252d ago

That's a good list, I would add Koudelka, such a great Horror Jrpg and the precursor to the shadow hearts games

bouzebbal1251d ago

Oh mannnn! We have a true gamer right here!

Brave Fencer Musashi and Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together

Magog1252d ago

Vagrant Story. So sad it never got a sequel.

pietro12121252d ago (Edited 1252d ago )

Agreed. I'd love another Matsuno directed Square-Enix game especially if it took place in Ivalice.

BlaqMagiq11252d ago

Threads of Fate. Deserves a remake. That's all I'm gonna say.

Parasite Eve and my favorite Xenogears

Jiub1252d ago

If they made a Parasite Eve set in NYC that was kinda open world-ish, I'd play every second of it

Fist4achin1252d ago

Much needed. I second it for PE.

pietro12121252d ago

Outside of Cyberpunk, you have really good taste in games. ;P

VersusDMC1252d ago

They need to stop waisting money on their yearly bombs(quiet man, left alive, balan wonderland) and just remake the first Parasite Eve. Just use the FF7R gameplay(pretty much the next generation PE combat if you think about it) and engine and you're good to go.

10 Best Classic JRPG Games That Need a Modern Remake in 2021

From Xfire: "There seems to be some sort of JRPG renaissance going on these past few years.

In addition to new entries of long-running franchises being released on multiple platforms and new IPs being introduced, some classic JRPG games are getting the love that they rightfully deserve in the form of a remake.

Case in point, Legend of Mana, and of course, who can forget the Final Fantasy 7 Remake?

But while there's a growing number of classic JRPG titles that are being remade for modern audiences, there are still far more that aren't getting enough attention and are in desperate need of a modern remake in 2021 and beyond."

Shadow Hearts & Xenogears.

Knightofelemia1546d ago (Edited 1546d ago )

Wild Arms, Xenogears, Xenosaga trilogy, Arc the Lad, Alundra, Golden Axe Warrior, FF Crisis Core, Ar Tonelico, Rouge Galaxy.

TricksterArrow1545d ago

Wild Arms already has a remake! A bit subpar, IMO. But it's decent.

O-D-C1546d ago

Anything with 'Xeno' in the title... and Baten Kaitos.

Vits1545d ago

First I would like to have the originals easily available again. Than the remakes, that way it's assured that the classic version is still "gettable" in case de remake sucks or take unwanted liberties.

5 Games Like Project Triangle Strategy That You Can Play Today

Xfire writes: "Announced at the latest Nintendo Direct, Project Triangle Strategy (a working title), is a tactical role-playing "2D HD game" described as something that is "full of choices and consequences" and that looks a lot like their vastly underrated modern JRPG, Octopath Traveller.

But while the upcoming title is visually similar to something from 2018, it actually has far more similarities with titles released way back in the past. Coincidentally, some of these titles, Square Enix ended up either developing or publishing themselves.

With that said, we've decided to round up some of the best games likes Project Triangle Strategy that you can play today."
