Microsoft didn’t plan on using Bizarre for future PGR installments

Now here’s some news on the Project Gotham Racing situation that’s certainly interesting. By now we all know that Activision acquired developer Bizarre Creations and the studio would not be involved for future Project Gotham Racing installments. When news first broke out, many feared that the PGR franchise would be finished. However, a recent news article suggests something very different.

It appears that after Project Gotham Racing 4 Microsoft did not want to use Bizarre for future installments in the franchise. It was this fact that helped prompt the sale of Bizarre. While all of this is speculation at the moment, it’s unclear as it why Microsoft would go this route after Bizarre helped build a strong racing franchise. Obviously there’s nothing wrong with a fresh start, but at this point we don’t know what to expect for the fifth installment in the series.
