Designing sound for Battlefiled 3

I've often wondered why so many awesome games have mediocre sound.
I have a VERY nice 7.1 setup, so this is important to me.

I personally don't like the Bad Company series of games very much, but the attention to audio in those games is second to none.

If the Call of Duty series had the same attention to audio I would probably never leave the house. lol

I swear on Hd projector, experience is totallyyy epic for BFBC series and if you got 5.1/7.1 ch DTS system .. boy u r in for treat, its like never ever uve experienced Battlefield.

the sound in BF-BC2 is awesome, i agree. dice and danger close up'd it in MoH tho. MoH just built on what bfbc2 already had going for it, and both are great examples in sound design for a military shooter. cant wait to experience the battles in BF3

i agree. BC games has the best sound in gaming today. hearing that sound of a rocket launcher explosion is what gets me every time.

Ah, Awesome.. This guy goes into so much detail, He knows exactly what his doing.

Plus, He worked on Bad Company 2's sound design as well, so They definately got the right guy for the job, again. :)

This game will look, play and sound orders of magnitudes better than KZ3. I've just recently looked deeper into their new Frostbite 2.0 engine and they plan on using all of the PS3's six SPU's.

This game is going to be mental on every platform.

First off why bring in KZ3? It's by no means a realistic war FPS. Second off, the only game that may compete with this in terms of sound is Socom 4. The past Socom games have been known to be very realistic in sound and gameplay. Just do a little research and you will see.

I don't recall anyone in this thread saying KZ3 looks and sounds better then BF3. Perhaps because they are nothing alike other then being an FPS. KZ3 has good graphics but its the art direction that allows it do so. BF3 is going for more realism in a real environment. There's no reason to compare because you can't. Socom 4 is the closest comparison to BF3 but it's a 3rd person shooter so again can't compare gameplay but maybe sound. Although BF3 Frostbite 2.0 engine is to-date one of the best physically.

Keep in mind DICE confirmed that the PC is the primary platform. However they also said (like Crytek) they don't like doing ports so they build each platform type different to cater to the machine it will be played on. We all know PC will look best but consoles will probably look damn good too.

its cool to say that the game looks better then KILLZONE 3 because in the gameplay trailer it did
im a huge KILLZONE fan.
lets just hope it looks like that on the ps3 or to a KILLZONE 3 level of quality, i'm more exited about the nextgen tech then the graphics, better special effects and details to immerse the players, something that this day only KILLZONE 2 and 3 have and im glad B3 will have!!!
