Dealspwn: Killzone 3 Review | Helghast Blast

Dealspwn writes: "All the little things that stopped the last game becoming a classic have been smoothed out and fine-tuned. Planet Helghan might not be made up of rainbows, but it’s a fine setting for some of the best graphics ever seen in gaming. It’s not just technically brilliant either, the campaign’s incredibly good fun to play through too, thanks to some varied pacing and a healthy mix of assaults, stealth, vehicles, on-rails shooting and plenty of ‘holy shit’ moments."

Good review.
Only problem I have with it is the Rico comment. I don't think he was nearly as annoying in this one even a little bit of a redemption story with him in this.

-Alpha4954d ago (Edited 4954d ago )

The best way to redeem his character is for him to die. It would redeem KILLZONE 2 SPOILER*** Garza's death****

Rico is the douchebag character nobody likes. Personally I want to play as HGH in K4 and kill Rico myself

Sarevok4954d ago (Edited 4954d ago )

YEAH! death to Rico!
I say we burn him alive and let helghast spiders eat him.

dead_eye4954d ago

@Alpha-Male22 & Sarevok. Ouch remind me never to get on the wrong side of you two. lol.

But really didn't killzone 3 make you like Rico a little bit. I know after 2 I wanted him dead but he did redeem himself a bit.

Yeah playing as the HGH would be good. It's strange how the story revolves around them more than the ISA but it's the ISA you play as.

clrlite4954d ago (Edited 4954d ago )

Great review! I probably would have gave the game around a 9 too if I was being completely objective and took everything into consideration.

dead_eye4954d ago

If I was to review it I would give it 85% (but if I was reviewing it then I would use my own scale and 85% would be like 90%-100% in other review scales) Would take a really awesome game to get in to the 90%

Thoreau4954d ago

i liked rico and sev. people love to act like they don't have azz tendencies, rico revealed his and calmed his personality down for kz3. no hate from me.

Guerrilla Games' Multiplayer Horizon Game Could Be Named "Hunters Gathering," Teases Leak

Guerrilla Games' upcoming multiplayer Horizon title could be dubbed "Hunters Gathering," according to a new leak.

Jin_Sakai275d ago (Edited 275d ago )

I wish PlayStation Studios would just stick to what they do best, making great single player games.

Outside_ofthe_Box274d ago

The core gameplay of Horizon is really good, so this is one of the few I can see working out. Also GG does have one of the greatest multiplayer games ever made in Killzone 2 under their belt so MP isn't too far off with what GG does best.

SyntheticForm274d ago

Hell, I enjoyed Shadowfall's MP thoroughly even though it had issues. Guerrilla have delivered solid multiplayer experiences.

Cacabunga273d ago

Oh boy. No idea why they don't want to work on a killzone it's a much more fun multi mode. -

__SteakDeck__273d ago

@Jin_Sakai First. As a business, you don’t just stick to what you do great. If that was the case, Apple would of just done computers and not taken a risk with iTunes and the iPhone. Also have you seen the cost of their AAA games like Spiderman 2? Sony is going to need one of these GAAS games to hit, or expect budget cuts to their SP games. We’re already seeing in the document leak, that they’re asking Insomniac to cut budgets.

Jin_Sakai273d ago

Their studios aren’t masters at GaaS and it’s showing. Naughty Dog wasted all that time and Resources just to cancel Factions and Insomniac's multiplayer Spider-Verse got axed. If Sony really wants a big GaaS hit their best bet would be to acquire EA or Epic Games. You need huge support to keep these games going with content and updates.

purple101275d ago (Edited 275d ago )

OHH GOD YES,, or at least some new shooter. finals was okay but I want more, spesh from 1st party

DaleCooper274d ago

Meh. You know what could be good? A new Killzone.

Magatsuhi274d ago

Hope it's not battle royale.

anast274d ago

It would be better than Monster Hunter, but I'm good with the Gaas stuff.

Up there with the top tier in the industry. Love Guerrilla Games - Horizon Burning Shores is simply STUNNING.

1Victor499d ago

Can’t wait for their next franchise

SullysCigar499d ago

Same. They nailed it with Horizon. The trouble is I also want a new Killzone! Can't I just have it all?!

jznrpg499d ago

I’m with you I want Horizon 3 , Killzone and new IPs

badz149499d ago

I have yet to play Burning Shores as I just started Forbidden West (bought at launch, just unwrapped last weekend LOL) and playing on PS5.

man...I still can't believe the graphics especially now I'm playing it on my LG OLED. that graphics and with stable performance backing it up, GG really is the master of their craft!

Vengeance1138499d ago

32.7M sales in the Horizon franchise! With 8.4M coming from Forbidden West alone! Truly a hugely successful game and franchise as a whole. Looking forward to Horizon III

Shane Kim499d ago

That's kind of a huge drop though. It's only been two games.

VersusDMC499d ago

One year after realease HZD sold 7.6 million.

https://www.noobfeed.com/ne...

So not a drop off.

Unless you're saying a HFW should have sold as much now as HZD sold in 5 years?

Vengeance1138499d ago

It's been 3 games, this includes Call of the Mountain. Also no, its a great improvement over HZD.

solideagle499d ago

lol you are comparing:

HZD: 28 February 2017 - May 2023 (6 years+)

HFW: 18 February 2022 - May 2023 (1 year+)

We will see if it surpass original number.

Phoenix76499d ago

@shane, 2 full main games, 2 DLC add ons, 1 VR spin off game, oh and a an official LEGO set.
Not too bad for an ip that's only been on market for 6 years

REDGUM499d ago

Wow, very impressive. I didn't know the numbers were so high for Forbidden West. Still playing through it myself

thesoftware730499d ago (Edited 499d ago )

Yooo, when I first saw that Killzone 1 footage at E3, my friends my brothers and I were like, Holy shit! When it came out, it didn't look exactly like it, but we sunk so many hours into 1 & 2.

I even liked Killzone: SF, it was a spectacle to look at, and even today it looks good. I hope they make a new one. Can you imagine how that will look, and they can get some modern FPS pointers from Bungie.

blacktiger499d ago

thank you fps lover, I'm with you

talocaca499d ago

Such a wonderful studio. They deserve all their success.

The Decima Engine is absolute 🔥 I'm just mad they have abandoned Killzone.

OzzY-waZZy499d ago (Edited 499d ago )

Kinda wish they move on from Horizon tbh.

potatoseal499d ago

They are probably working on mutiple projects. One of them is Horizon 3, but another is a multiplaer game and probably somehting else.

Imalwaysright499d ago

There were rumours that they were working on a Socom reboot.
