D+PAD: The Importance of Mundanity
D+PAD Magazine writes:
I think we’ve all sat in a class with ‘that kid’, you know ‘that kid’! The kid that found everything boring, “I don’t want to study maths that’s boring!” and “You like computer games? That’s boring”. I’ve always wondered what these kids found interesting – I mean they were never the smart kids, nor the popular kids, they never took part in any big social activities (“parties are boring”), I suspect you could sit these kids in front of a burning skyscraper while lions fight tigers in bi-planes at the top and they’d still be bored because they themselves are boring. Yet for some reason all mainstream media companies and computer game companies are terrified of ‘that kid’ labelling their product boring. For a videogame to be labelled “Boring” is almost more toxic than bad reviews based on any other aspect of it, and yet here I am to say that being boring is important to all media and is something that deserves more credit.
