VGChartz - The Top 50 Greatest Games of All Time

GamrConnect: On November 12, 2010 members of gamrConnect participated in an event called "VGChartz: Your 50 Favorite Games of All Time!" The object of the thread was simple: those who signed up would list their 50 favorite games from November 12 to December 31 (a total of 50 days). This was just a fun way for the community to step up and show others the 50 games that have impacted them in a big way.

So without further delay, here are the 50 games that made it to the top of the event. Cheers!

I agree, its a great list. I'm impressed tbqh.

Nintendo dominates the top 15. Not surprising.. they have been in the game the longest.
8 Mario Games, 3 in the top 10
Smash Bros Melee and Brawl
5 Zelda games, again 3 in the 10. (The 2 others go as low as #16.)

Big surprises:

Valkyria Chronicles and Ico (not big sellers but great games)

Heavy Rain,nice

Every main non-MMO FF game since VI, plus VI

FF IV > every other one aside from VI.

Chrono Trigger beating out all the FF games at #2 (FFVI is right behind it though)

ONLY 2 Pokemon games

Uncharted 1 and Mass Effect 1 tying (in the middle of the rankings at 25, no less)

Castlevania SotN not in the top 15.

No Super Metroid?

mine being Okami, Shenmue, Deus Ex, SOTC, System shock 2, FFVII, Super Metroid, Metroid prime etc

but there are some glaring omissions also , most notably HL2

They had pretty good stories. FF12 got criticism for gameplay and difficulty (to some people). 13 got it for linearity I believe they were still pretty good games though.

That list just goes to show how good square was. Its nice to know that they're gonna (try to) start releasing more games. Hopefully they can start poopin out those quality games that they have made before. Im definitely glad FF4 didnt get overlooked because it usually does.

Pokemon is the only handheld games representative? They're very forgotten these days -handheld games-. I Would add The World Ends With You and Patapon to that list.

Decent list. Personally, out with Mass Effect (1, not 2), FFXIII, Uncharted (1,not 2), Heavy Rain, Valkyria Chronciles.

Pick a Gran turismo - I'd rather see F-Zero GX in there. 3 A-spec should probably be in there though.
